I have played cards with a group of wonderful ladies for 5+ years.
Our group started out with 20+ but over the years we've lost many friends but the 9-11 of us have continued our Friday night fun.
Every year we do a "pollyanna" nothing big but "fun" to exchange since the ladies are widows or no longer celebrate holidays with family.
The first Friday of December I usually host a Sunday brunch & we exchange then play cards.
today due to the current virus situation we decided we should pass this year. A few who are my closet friends I haven't seen since March 😢.
I feel of course, in agreement, but can't help feel a little sad.
Guess they'll be many changes and the holidays will be different for sure 😢

Too many things changing and always for the worse. Seems like there never anything good happening anymore.

@homedecor1 I believe in staying optimistic. I am interested in knowing how all of you ladies met? I hope you stay in contact with your close friends by phone.

Thank you!!! I just talked to my son and he said the same thing. They've been on a wonderful fun family vacation & he said "he hates to go home cuz my GD has enjoyed it so much".
They were coming here for 3 days but I asked them not to as spouse (dad) has been sick & as much as I miss them I couldn't risk them bringing something here.
It certainly gives a new perspective to things...I 🙏🏻 things get better soon. Guess just hard to accept life's "new reality"...
🙂🙂

I'm sorry to hear that you can't get together with your usual hodiay gathering with your friends.
Can you zoom together once a month or so? I've been doing that with my book club ladies.

I have close friends I miss very much. We do keep in touch by phone and e-mail. When you know people for over sixty four years, you go through so many changes , ups and downs but we manage to stay close through it all.
True friendships will endure and will always be no matter what is going on. It is difficult and sad we can't interact with our friends as before but in my heart I know my friends are always there for support, to lean on in good and not so good times. The pandemic might keep us apart physically but emotionally our bond is strong and we make the best of it.

My closest friend came here when they retired. My spouse worked with them. Seems they all migrated here or in this area.- then spouse decided let's come too.
I live in over 55 community and funny thing I never played cards, but, my friend did on Tuesdays so I learned . We played in the card room at clubhouse.
Over the years we had 20+ then as years passed only a few stayed. We became good friends and formed our own group. We take turns at each other's houses (preCovid) Friday nights.
We are always looking for anyone to join in!
Yes, I talk to the ones "isolating" but I see the others since we go to pool every morning for our walk. (and usually stay the day😉)
