I've always journaled since highschool...maybe before that. I have boxes of notebooks/journals in the attic.
This year has been particularly eventful. My journal (3 so far) had daily entries beginning in February...mundane experiences and marking the wearing of masks with drawings of photos of the granddaughters firt wearing theirs. There are news clippings of BLM, protest and killings, election coverage, the death of RBG with drawings/phots/articles and home schooling adventures. The days I subbed, we'd sneak out to Wendy's have our lunches and Frostys in the car. These outings were top secret missions until my younger one left her Frosty cup in the kitchen trash. I got the side eye from DIL, but then we had a good laugh. Hey, I've always been a rascal.
My journal continues with facts of COVID, vaccines, a new administration (?), sometimes even stolen pictures of women back in April and May with roots and tallons for nails until everyone figured out that beauty issues CAN be done at home...sometimes with hilarious outcomes.
If ever there was a year to document my feeling, thoughts, memories, separation from family at holidays and fears for the future, 2020 was/is the year.
Have you kept any notes or photos?

Off and on.
I have one journal, but I have only written in it a handful of times this year.

No. I guess some may find it therapeutic to put their thoughts in writing, but I would never be so arrogant as to presume that anyone else would be even the tiniest bit interested in my thoughts. I'm just one of many millions of people.

i have been keeping a daily journal for a few years now. this year has certainly been an important one for documenting. since we don't really go on all the outings that we used to, i have had lots of entries about what's going on regarding the virus. what a year. glad that i have been able to write it down!

I started keeping a journal 2 months ago the day after my husband died. I write every day. Not sure if it helps or hurts but just something I do.
Up until this I was never one to do this at all but for whatever reason it came natural to start this. Weird. I don't want to read anyone elses, just don't have the desire to do it nor do I care if anyone reads mine after Iam gone but until such time, its just for me.

@FrostyBabe1 Oh No, the journals are and always have been for my eyes only. They're a way to get my feelings out, document how I'm handling life and look back have a good laugh sometimes at stupid things I did or said. No one has ever seen or read my journals.

No journal but since the 70's I have a "history" computer printout for important things that happen each year: major repairs, health issues, special visits by friends, travel, car purchases, passings, etc. it evolved into keeping events/ items by houses we have. This has saved a lot of arguments !
This year I went through all the folders where I keep letters and cards from friends. After I reread them, I made a small package to return the items with a note saying you have shared much with me: appreciate how well you overcame adversity and trials. The mini journey is like a journey through the past. We will celebrate the present and enjoy the future together.

TO ALL: Please have patience (see print oopsie in OP). I have a real computer, laptop, for first time in 10 years...mouse, too, that slides and screws up sometimes. My IPAD was touch screen and thiss has keyboard. Guess who forgot how to type?
There are keys/functions/programs I've never used and it will take time to figure this all out.
Thanks from the newbie

@Shanus ---No I have never been a list/ diary/ journalist ---but I did a few pages when I was going thru chemo, well really after all that---not many pages and I look at it from time to time and really wish I had continued. brings back alot of memories about it all as if I need to be reminded.
I think it is a great idea---and not surpised you filled up so many books this year-----but I bet it relieves some stress too. I do have photos as everyone prob does on their phones.

@wagirl It's not only a stress reliever, but when I have difficulty working through a problem or difficult time, a $5 spiral notebook is much less expensive than talking it out with a shrink. 😜 After a few days of writing down my thoughts, feelings, pluses and minuses, I come up with solutions and sometimes realize it's not even worth any more time and just let the issue go.
