I keep my calendars. The ones I do now, I do more journaling in, not quite diary stuff.

I journaled during some of the most stressful years of my life, and found it very therapeutic.
After I retired, I found, and re-read the notebooks during my intense purging process, and destroyed them. Most of what I wrote then is not how I feel now, and I did not want my family reading those words after I die.
I record everything on my calendars now and keep them instead.

My oldest daughter has kept a diary, now a journal, her entire life, i.e., from the time she was a pre-teen. She is now in her early 50s so she has a lifetime of memories. This year has to be rich for those who keep journals. I never kept a diary or journal, although I considered it at times.
At this point, the more I remember of 2020, the worse off I'll be. This year has been so traumatic that I will never forget all that has happened. I'd rather remember the good times, Before I started saving my iPhone photos, I saved all those good times in photo albums. I have albums for all my European trips, my grandchildren, even my dogs. All of those photos elicit good feelings. I'd rather focus on that.

One of my nephews teaches high school history (he's a history buff). He has been keeping a journal since the pandemic started. He figures it will be a useful first hand account of the pandemic to teach in the future. He is only in his mid 20's and has many years of teaching ahead of him. As an aside, he got married at the end of October in Wisconsin and got infected with Covid, as did his bride, his mother, his father, and his sister. They think the maid-of-honor was infected at the wedding. I declined to attend the wedding because I figured this would happen.

No, I don't want to remember much about 2020. I used to keep a journal when I was a teenager, but not since.
