🚙🚙🚙🚙🚙🚙🚙. SOLD !!!

[ Edited ]

I decided earlier this year that I would sell my 2019 CRV LX. It was in excellent condition, no accidents and it only had 27,000 miles.

At first I thought I would sell it privately and after much thought and many offers I sold it to the Honda dealer I originally purchased it from. I had it serviced every 3,000 miles, more than what was required.

I did my research and also had a tech man I know do more research. I knew my bottom line and knew what the market for the same model would go for.

Honda has been calling me for close to a year inquiring if I would consider an offer.

Well, everything that has been said about car salesman is alive and true!

Last Saturday I had an appointment with Honda, it was a disaster!

As a few of you know I have not been well and at times it is a struggle to get through the days.

I bundled up my old pup and off we went to Honda.

A very young man met me at the door of the showroom, so young that I thought he parked cars or cleaned them. There was a reason for this, my last name is Hispanic and I don't speak a word of Spanish. He spoke both Spanish and English.
I was shown where to sit and the young man continued to "chat", this was all very well thought out.

I was told it would only be 10 minutes until the sales person would come to see me.
The young man went into the office and sat down and you could tell and hear they were telling jokes.

He would come out again and told me again-10 minutes more.

I was tired and irritated. I picked up my purse and walked out with my old pup.

Yes, he chased after me and made an extremely low offer. I didn't respond and got into my car and left.

On Monday the phone calls began.

The original woman who had been calling me said she didn't see my car and sales paperwork.

I told her what happened and she apologized for the low offer and the way I was treated.

She said she would get back to me.

I already had two offers and I had the text and my research on my phone.

Thursday she called me with a higher offer than the two I had.
Friday I was at Honda at 10am, she met me at my car, walked me in and the deal was closed in less than 40 minutes, paperwork...

It was a clean deal and I didn't have to go to the DMV!

I had kept care of the car and all seats were covered with covers from weather tex and the floors had rubber mats that were water proof and the cargo area had a cargo mat which was a couple inches high. The original floor mats for the front and back were still in their original wrappers.  It had 3 key bobs!

I knew that on January 1st then car would be another year older and didn't want to wait.

Before I sold it I had purchased everything I would need and would be too heavy and bulky to put into a cab/taxi!
It's the first time since I was sixteen I have not had my own car, it will take some time to get accustomed to it.

Bravo! Let your feet do the talking. I am so sorry that happened, but you go girl. 🎉Demand that respect!

And in the end, someone is going to get the gift of a wonderful, well loved, practically new car. I almost want to buy it myself. 🤣

Congrats on a car free life. It's on my list too, if I ever live where it makes sense to not have one.

@Puppy Galore

Congrats on your well thought out sale!

And sounds like you and @wagirl can compare notes. I believe she and her daughter both live a car free life.

Will you be having most of what you need delivered and / or use car services like Uber when needed?

My driving slowed down this summer until both cataracts were fixed in the Fall found it quite doable.

I'll have bulky items delivered from Costco.

Perishable food, I'll use a cab, I have a favorite cab company and woman driver who drives me to the airport.

For my hair appointment and my sweet pups grooming appointment I'll do the same.

Safeway and the usps are next door to each other, I've planned everything out.

When I move in to town, hopefully I'll be able to walk to stores and walk my sweet pup.

Re: 🚙🚙🚙🚙🚙🚙🚙. SOLD !!!

Almost all of the large grocery chains now offer delivery service for an annual fee.  I've been getting mine from Walmart for 3 or 4 years and have been quite satisfied.

There's almost nothing you can't get delivered including prescriptions.

@Puppy Galore ---bravo for the magnificent way you treated your car during the time you had it an for doing your homework!!! Curses for the way you were treated by those snarky guys!!! Shame on them!!! But you got a great woman to help you.

Now----I have been car free for the last 4 years--had a junker as that is what my stupid EX only bought for me---he spent the $$ on his cars/trucks. We split up in 2021, sold the house and I moved into an apt with DD. I have NOT missed having a car --well, maybe just a tiny bit,  for the convenience sometimes--but I don't miss any of the upkeep, the insurance cost , the gas especially the gas--it is over $4 close to $5 here in WA state, no car tabs either. I am not worried about the horrible and dangerous drivers on the highways here or about getting my car ripped off or shot at by road raging drivers. I use Uber or Lyft when needed but use the bus all the rest of the time. I can walk to any place I need to go in my town within 20 minutes. And I order groceries online---I am able to do all that easily as I have no physical issues. The new place I am moving to, has even more available to walkers and tons of  transit options too. So while my situation is different than yours, and not having a car is a major decision --am sure you can research the options for you as far as getting to places. Senior centers, medicare --all that have resources.  Local communities too. I find it very freeing on top of saving probably thousands of $$.

I would rather give birth than deal with car dealers!

Re: 🚙🚙🚙🚙🚙🚙🚙. SOLD !!!

@wagirl

Thank you.

It wasn't an easy decision, but one I've been thinking about for almost two years.

The cost of owning a car, upkeep, gas and insurance is high. I was tired of the expense.

It needed four new tires, brakes were in great shape. Got tired of it for the little I drove it.

One thing I do miss, I always took my sweet old pup for a drive each morning, he loves his drives.

Every store I shop at allows him in with me, he has a special seat I put in the child seat of the buggy. The cab does too.

I was paying over 3k a year for insurance and that's with no tickets or accidents for over 40 years.

I feel like you, it's safer, it has been raining here for over a week and will continue through the 3rd of January. I was concerned until I drove into Honda's parking lot.

I'll take your's and @Kachina624  advice on ordering online.
