I used to get many calls a day. Never answered, but it is so irritating! I put a message on phone "if we do not recognize your name or your number, we will not be talking to you!" They might try to call two more times or so, but eventually just stop! Of course, if I am not home and the legit person calling is someone I need to talk to - friends, family, doctors - they leave a message. Interesting how the "not legit" people never leave a messge. My phone does tell me if I received a call whether a message was left or not - so I can always check the caller's number. The Do Not Call list is a joke!

I've actually talked to the folks at the Do Not Call org and they say that you do need to renew yourself on it periodically. Not sure it really helps though.
Like most of you here my calls seem to start 10ish or so. The first is the gal who tells me I've won a free cruise to the bahamas. Soon to follow is 'Rachel" from card holder services telling me to call my cc service immediately - oh did I mention 'there's nothing wrong with your accnt'....Now since DH will be turning 65 in 5 months, Amanda calls a couple of times telling me she knows 'I'm getting ready to turn 65 in a couple of months, let's talk medicare!'
There are are the robo calls wanting to chat about who knows what.
Yeah, these calls are FUN!

Cable will change it for no fee. Maybe if I change it, and it keeps happening, I will cancel it.

I get SOOOO many calls! It drives me crazy. For the past week, I've been answering the calls but not speaking (or making any other noise). Sometimes there is nobody on the other end of the line, but I often here "Hello" ..... "Hello" .... "Hello." Sometimes they know my name, sometimes they don't say it. AT&T was a big offender. At the end of my one week of doing this, I can say that I'm getting fewer calls than I was getting before. It took many silent calls with AT&T before they gave up!
I like this strategy, because I don't have to listen to the phone ringing. If the reduction in calls continues, I'll be very happy!

@corita That is a great idea about the message. I like that! Thanks!

Maybe I should set my radio near the phone, and when it is a number that I don't know, I can play them a tune! lol

@corita: "I put a message on phone "if we do not recognize your name or your number, we will not be talking to you!"
That is a great idea. I am going to try that. Thank you!

Nope! I got rid of my landline phone years ago and NEVER have any unsolicited calls on my cell. None. Ever. Its the best thing I've ever done!

"Now since DH will be turning 65 in 5 months, Amanda calls a couple of times telling me she knows 'I'm getting ready to turn 65 in a couple of months, let's talk medicare!'"
Which would make me wonder how do they know my birthdate? What other personal info do they know? And where/who did they get this personal info from?

Hi there, I am not a regular on here but sometimes just check in and look around. You guys have given me such good information on here that I have to share this. Go to "No More Robo" and sign up. When a call comes through that is a recording or telemarketer, your phone rings only once then is automatically answered by this service. I signed up for this and do not get any telemarketer/recorded calls come through. If my phone rings once and that's it, I know it was a telemarketer or recorded call. Here's the link:
Have a great day! :-)
