If I'm home and my phone rings, I'll answer. The one thing I hate is the call in which the person tells me my Windows computer is being hacked. They can't even speak English so it's pointless for them to bother calling.

Get the CPR CallBlocker with the big red button. Easy to use. I have had this for 3 months and blocked 38 calls. It has a lot of telemarketing numbers pre programmed to block. It is pricy but works. They have great tech support. Amazon sells the newest model. I have service with my cable company and was able to block calls. I also have the Panasonic Dect phone model # KX-TGA470 and able to block calls. I was frustrated and determined to do something. I never answer calls from numbers I do not know. I started receiving calls from strange numbers that started with a V then a number. Freaked out when calls came in from my own phone number!!! The call blocker is my best purchase, Southern Bee

I was just looking at these on Amazon. The V5000 looks good.
Compatibility was mentioned and, of course, even though it added 'etc' it didn't mention my carrier which is Charter.
Is there any reason to think that there could be compatibility issues? Before I spend $100 I always need to be sure about EVERYTHING. (I'm bad that way. heh, but it saves a lot of grief)

@chickenbutt: On Amazon: the product information includes answered questions. Please post your questions and concerns. The Call Blocker tech person and others will respond. I posted my questions and concerns and received help and answers before placing my order. I hope this will help you. I appreciate your help and kind thoughts from you on previous issues. Southern Bee

Thanks, Bee! I was reading the questions on Amazon and Kevin said that it works for all carriers so I think I will get it. Seems like he is very responsive and helpful! I read several questions that he answered.
BUT, I also found that on the website it is $10 less and also with free shipping and no tax, so I think I willk get it directly from them.

I understand: Previously someone urged me to purchase the Digitone call blocker. It was great but after a couple of months had issues. Tried to call the company and phone disconnected and no response from emails. My issues were not listed on the frequently asked questions page. I was upset because product not working correctly and had not used product long enough for the money spent and was determined not to repeat the mistake. Southern Bee

Yeah, that's not good! In one of the question on Amazon I read somebody mentioning that it didn't seem to be compatible with their Comcast. It did mention Comcast in compatibilities.
Kevin said to try turning their modem off and back on to see if it would, then, recognize it. That made a lot of sense. I'm keeping that (hopefully) in the back of my mind in case I have a problem with hooking it up. Mine is Charter, but it's the same type of thing - landline with cable carrier.

@chickenbutt: I had land line with WOW cable phone and Internet and wanted to be sure. Trying to remember the details but used the connections directly using the phone jack on the wall. I am slow but was able to do the connections within 10 minutes. I had to move my recliner and bookcase to reach the wall jack. Plus that made me get some exercise but the best part: I am in control and can take my afternoon nap!!!

I'm going to put some thought into this. I did read that it needs to be hooked through the main phone that is hooked into the phone jack. My main one is in the kitchen.
But my living room phone, right at the end of the couch, is right near a phone jack so, assuming it still works since I've changed things a few times, maybe I can just move the main to the living room. That would be more convenient for me.
But then, things don't tend to work out that well for me as a general rule so even if I have to keep it in the kitchen I'll be like you and getting more exercise. Nothing bad about that.

@chickenbutt and anyone else interested. I was so sick of those people at my door also. I went to Walmart and put up a sign on my front door ( .99) that says no soliciting. It helped, but did not stop tree trimming service etc. So , when my hubby was so sick , I kept getting these people knocking at my door when I had him in bath tub etc. So I typed up a note and hung it in the front door. SAYS --NO SOLICITING MEANS NO SELLING OF ANY KIND, THAT GOES FOR TREE TRIMMING SERVICE, SECURITY SERVICE, AND YOUR RELIGION AND DO NOT LEAVE YOUR FLYERS ON MY FRONT DOOR.
I haven't had anyone knock on my door since. lol I love it!
