My question is thisSmiley Frustratedhould I buy a gift for the X?In the past I have bought him gift cards, but never have received anything  from him.He has no family left except our daughter. For some reason he still is close to my family.Matter of fact I think he is invited Xmas eve to my parents house for our celebration. As my mother always says DO THE RIGHT THING

@Luvsmyfam  It's Christmas!  He's coming to your house for Christmas dinner with your invitation and because you share a daughter together.  You stated he has no family and still feels close to yours.  Christmas is about giving, not receiving!  A small gift to include him will not only make him feel good, but you, in your heart, as well.    p.s.  I think your mom was a very wise woman!

Of course you should buy him a gift.  It appears he's still part of the family and you did invite him for Christmas.  Personally I don't buy gift cards unless the person specifically asked for one.

Seems like a repetitive topic for this person.

If everyone is getting a gift, and someone is purposely excluded on Christmas I think that's awfully sad.

If he's a coffee drinker, get a gift card to Dunkin' Donuts or a local coffee place.  Maybe a couple of $1 lottery tix.  This way, if you change your mind last minute, no big loss.  You will use it.

Honestly, I think you are the only one that can answer this. Situations are all so different.

@Luvsmyfam Really?  You have someone coming for Christmas and you are giving everyone BUT them a gift?  That would be my definition of being snotty and mean.  On Christmas!  That's just a set-up to make someone feel unloved.  If you ask me.  And you did.
