Oh my stars and garters, @YorkieonmyPillow!   That photo of the puppies in the back of the truck is priceless!   You made my day!   This thread makes my week wonderful no matter how it actually went.   Thank you @sunala.   And thank you all who share here; for the blessings you all are.  Heart

@sunala

My DH lived in New York City before I met him and married him.  He has taken me there 3 times and I have been so frustrated that I still have not had the New York  eating experience.  I told him the next time we go, he absolutely has to take me to several places and one is to a bakery to get "authentic" black and white cookies!   The New York pizza he "exposed" me to was Sbarros which we have here in the St. Louis area.  I want a Mom and Pop place to go.  I also want to try are real deli as we just don't have those here.  I have had Chicago pizza (living in IL) but I also live 20 minutes from downtown St. Louis so also have authentic St. Louis style pizza.  Do you have a good black and white cookie recipe to share?

@sunala  my husband got home safely and on time. Smiley Happy Thanks.

My son lives in Chicago.  He enjoys the deep dish, but prefers the thin pizza we get in this area.

He can not get a good bagel!   That is always something he wants when he is visting!

@mustang66lady- a good black and white cookie recipe?  I've seen recipes for them online, but I'd never ever attempt to make them. They're a lot of work, and I sincerely doubt I could bake one that was half as good as from my bakery.

As far as pizza goes, Sbarros is a far cry from authentic New York pizza. I hope you try real pizza the next time you come, along with a black and white cookie, and a real bagel!

Regarding St. Louis, you must get excellent ribs, or so I've been told. Each part of the country has its own specialties, and I bet your ribs are the best!

Have a beautiful weekend.

@sunala

St. Louis has some great bbq places.   While I love ribs, my favorite is called burnt ends.  If done right, they melt in your mouth.   St. Louis also " invented" toasted ravioli and there are some great places for that as well.  We do have a bbq place 15 minutes from us where the owner has won many, many trophy's.  One poster on these boards - bbqjudge- is a judge on many competitions nation wide if I am correct.  She is a local lady who is very generous with her comments.  DH and I are considering taking her up on learning how to judge when he retires in about 2 years.

And I just knew DH was trying to pull the wool over my head about the pizza!   LOL!   Even though I live in IL, I prefer St. Louis style pizza-thin crust which lets the sauce and toppings get the focus, over the thicker pan type pizza of Chicago.  But then, I'm not sure there is such a thing as bad pizza either!   I have told DH next trip to New York is going to be more on my interests.   I have a list!
