****SHABBAT SHALOM. NOVEMBER 14TH****

Happy Friday and Shabbat Shalom.

For those who do not observe the Sabbath on Saturday, I thought I'd explain. The Sabbath for us begins at sundown Friday night and lasts until sundown on Saturday. It usually begins with a special dinner, hopefully with family who live nearby. We light "two Shabbos candles " usually in silver candle sticks. Mine were passed down by my maternal grandmother and I have a pair from my paternal aunt who had no children. The older woman in the family lights the candles  although my granddaughters and DIL have taken a turn to light the candles. A prayer is said for peace, good health or whatever I'm feeling needs a prayer that week. A challah, braided  bread, is torn and shared to those at the table. There is also wine with its own special prayer....grape juice for the kids.  We try to get to Temple services although that was difficult to do when sundown was 6PM. It's much easier now.

This week I'm planning for Thanksgiving and trying to cook ahead, but with one frig. now, that may be a difficult task. I'm used to a frig. and freezer in the garage and double ovens, so we'll see how this goes. Lol

I'm wishing everyone a great weekend with a walk in the woods, a wonderful book to read, a good movie on Netflix and whatever brings you relaxation and peace.

Re: ****SHABBAT SHALOM. NOVEMBER 14TH****

Traditions and family time are so important and lacking in many homes centered around a nice meal.

My Parents and Grandparents had Sunday dinners. A roast or chicken was often served. Pie for dessert. For some families pasta dishes with a traditional dessert.

Those of you that have families to gather are blessed. Definitely give gratitude and thanks. Even if only at Thanksgiving it is still special to get together.

It's Saturday and it's raining here in So CA.  I'm home as the rain is plentiful.  Wherever you are, stay safe and warm.
