Shabbat Shalom and Happy Hanukkah to those who observe. Of course, everyone is always welcome here to join our "group" and share thoughts and ask for prayers.

We DID put our electric Menorah in the window and opened the shutters wide. I decided to feel proud of being Jewish and not letting others make me hide out like Anne Frank especially now!!! .

It felt good to see the bright higher middle candle and the first "candle" lit as we had potato latkes (I add grated zuchinni), applesause, cakes, jelly donuts and sang some songs together. 

I hope everyone is braving the crowds for Christmas shopping and anything ordered arrives in time. 

Please pray for the kids on campus and elsewhere who are at risk for harm just for being Jewish. I grew up with all this in the south and thought most people had become educated and accepting.

The violence in today's world is not acceptable and I pray every night for safety to resume here and across the world. Everyone should be able to rest peacefully in a clean bed with meds, food and family around and no worries about what the next day will bring. 

My sympathy runs deep for those who have been shot in Las Vegas, synagogue in NY (shots fired last night, but no one injured), etc. The news is unbearable.

I wish everyone a safe and wonderful weekend filled with the joys of the sesaon. Religion or race, ethnicity...we are all accepted and equals.
