I was really tired yesterday afternoon and thought I would lie down for a few minutes before picking Davey up from school. I had to do some thinking about it as all FOUR of my four legged friends were stretched out on my bed and all were sound asleep. I tried wiggling in, and managed to do so, but my sleeping space was not the most comfortable. Still fell asleep for about 40 minutes or so however. Have always had this auto alarm clock in my head - all the years of working and getting up and hitting the Freeways at all hours of the day or night, I never used an alarm clock. Weird.
Very very chilly this morning and I am wrapped in my trusty Slanket. Those things were the great invention ever to come along for keeping you warm. When they first came out I bought them for my Sis and her husband and also my brother and his wife and their two children as they lived in the mountains. Bob, my brother, says they still use them and love them. Seems to me that was a good 10 years or more, ago. Great things.
Not happy as Curves closed yesterday morning and will not open until Tuesday. That is just dumb for an exercise business. She is closing it permanently in a couple weeks - short notice - and she has a lot of members. Makes no sense other than a clue is she just bought a new RV. Hmn. ALL the Curves now are gone around here except one. Will probably join Reps for Life Fitness - it is several miles away - was spoiled as this Curves is in the next block. I must exercise or will have more problems than I already do. Both my primary and pulmonary MDs say I must exercise daily. Also suppose to walk but have not managed that yet and my primary MD nails me on it every time I see him. Hard to do with my COPD but he says DO IT!!!
No big plans for the holiday - as far as I know that is.
Hope all have a great day!

Freddie, when my dog Max was alive, he slept with me when he was a baby. After that, he would only get in my bed when I got out. When I met DH and we bought the house, Max would get in the bed with him after I went to work. If Max was scared of storms at night, hubbie would wake me up, tell me the dog was scared and then say, you need to sleep in the other room or something so Max could get in bed with him.
I wonder what is going on with all of the Curves franchises. You are not the only poster I chat with who has mentioned the local Curves closed.
Do they sell slankets any more? Those things seemed to be so popular when I started watching the Q and then nuthin'.

Cute dog story, birdmama. I bought DD a spongebob slanket when she was younger as she was crazy about that guy, lol, and when she grew up, I bought her an adult size, but she doesn't use it anymore that I know of.

Hello all, wow this site is slower than molasses in January!
It's been a somewhat lazy day. I did manage a first visit to the new great niece Fiona Rose. I spent about 90 minutes feeding and cuddling the baby while my sister (nieces mom) swept the floor and did dishes so my niece could pump milk then take a shower.
The bird for the weekend is the Ringed Turtle Dove

Bernie, let me say this. Those slankets are lifesavers. As I said, I bought a lot of them and they are being used in Kansas, Michigan, in the mountains here and in my home. Would not do without mine. Have no clue if they are still popular and could care less. I have mine - they are great. After I post this will look to see if the Q still carries them. I know many places carry them but in many instances they are not called Slankets - have no clue what they are called in various places.

It is still slow, Mousie, at 12:15 am here in FL. I thought it was the computer, but then saw that the Q had easy pay on everything today. Maybe that's the reason, but like you I kept opening new tabs so I could post and after opening 7 or more tabs the computer started to slow down. If it's not one thing, it's another.
I was wondering if your daughter got her driver's license and saw in your post earlier that she did. Still have 2 grandkids ton't know if girls is any cheaper, but my son pays a hefty insurance bill every month with 2 of the boys driving and having their own wheels.
Bernie, What a pretty name for your great niece. Bet it was fun cuddling with her. It was a lazy day here too, at least for me. DDIL did do a lot of outside work in the yard.
The new bird is getting used to the family, her cage, the noises, etc, that go with a new environment. My son and DDIL went and got a bunch of new perches, toys, snacks etc for her. She still bites and I am very careful around her big beak. The bruise is pretty much gone from my index finger. DDIL still has the bite marks on her nose though.
Winifred, I didn't get a Slanket, but I did get a couple of the Holiday print Polar Tec blankets from the Q. They are so warm and soft. Love them too. I do remember the Slankets though. Great idea for sure. I keep several throws around on the sofa at home and have one near my bed here at DS's. I pull it out often when I am here in Jan and Feb. Sometimes the AC gets to me and I am actually chilled even during the summer. So out comes that throw, even with the Winter things on it.
Waving to all my Birding Friends. Be safe and cool!!
