I brought my daughter up to be a free spirit and I never gave her a lot of rules to follow.
Instead she made the "rules" and has done quite well for herself in life.
Signed,
Proud Mama

I would ONLY have ONE rule instead of the 37 posted ones -
USE COMMON SENSE.

Graduations are just around the corner so these types start cropping up.
I believe in keeping the lines of communication open throughout raising children; discussing everything and anything.
I gave my son the freedom to make decisions but knowing consequences.
These "rules" are not really rules but topics to be discussed all the time.
However, I see some good points for both daughters and sons; we teach what we know and we grow with our children, too.

i found it interesting and enjoyed reading it. I wouldnt necessary say these are rules but more like behaviors and conduct to live by. I personally didnt agree with 36 because some of us know thats not true at all. You can be as kind as you can to someone and some will never treat you the same because of who they are. Ive seen it and experienced it too many times to know its false. #4 is also another one i dont agree with. Sometimes you just cant do or say something and its not a cop-out.

I would add: Choose your spouse carefully; your choice will determine the course of your life.

We’ve both done fine without following arbitrary rules that someone else has suggested for us
@september I certainly agree with you! I sure need my man, and no, mommy doesn't love me best. To name a few! Not what I would want to tell my daughter on many of these.
@Sooner Well, I hadn’t even read past number 5 until I saw your reply. I then scanned the rest of the list, and agree with you. It just got even more generalized and most of us can just shake our heads over this kind of “advice”.

In todays climate those rules are just silly IMO, especially the last one.

I don't see any reason for rule #1.

Think my dd broke all the rules.

That says it all in my book! Rules just stiffle creativity and prevent really being content in life! I believe in being yourself and the use common sense fits that!
