I hadn't thought about him in years and saw a very small "mention" of his passing on Facebook this morning on some site. I always enjoyed seeing him and thought how difficult it must've been for him growing up in his father's shadow. Didn't know about his Parkinson's. May he rest in peace and may his family get the comfort they need.

His father's shadow? His dad was a caterer in NJ.

@Caroline925

Did you think that Richard Lewis was related to Jerry Lewis?

@Carolina925

Are you maybe mistakenly thinking his father was Jerry Lewis?
@LizzieInSRQ is correct, his father owned a catering busines.

Richard was doing stand up as a side jig while working for an ad agency. He was discovered by David Brennar who got him connected and on The Tonight Show.

Thanks for posting on this, @cheriere .  Richard Lewis had the gift of making all his neuroses so vividly entertaining, drawing audiences right into his own personal little theater of the absurd.   He could come on, and before he even started obsessing about his latest topic du jour, people would smile and laugh, in anticipation of the zaniness to come...

I'm very sorry to hear of his latest health struggles. RIP.

He was very funny in "Robin Hood - Men in Tights".

I saw him perform at a comedy club about 10 years ago.

Always enjoyed him & could relate to some of his bits.

Sympathies to his family.

Gosh, I've always thought he was one of Jerry's sons! Thanks for setting me straight after all these years.

I only found out when I watched the last episode of Curb .

I was surprised, I felt he's looked ill for awhile on the show though .
