I don't remember blocking untill we had a cordless phone.

Yep I remember doing this. When the receiver was off the hook it would make a rapid beeping sound, loud and annoying. It was the phone company's way of telling you to hang up the phone. I used to wrap a thick towel around the receiver so I wouldn't have to listen to that beeping.

I remember those days.  Couldn't do that with a party line... remember those????

Yes, I remember those days.  There was no voice mail either.  If you wanted to get messages you had to rely on answering services.

I couldn't block anyone until around 2000 when we got a cordless phone.  I don't know about that phone, it looks more like something from the 60s.

Some rotary phones like this were still used in the 1980's.
