@CatsyCline LOLOL I had a brown 77 Chevy Nova Hatchback.  Oh the memories!!  My friends and I would pool our change together for gas.  Those were the days.

@Foxxee I remember when we were shocked and appalled that prices had risen to that level.  Gas on sale had gone above 19 cents a gallon.  When you get 7 mpg it hurts!

@eadu4    one friend used to drive her Dad's  '71 Nova - yeah we all chipped in for gas too and just went cruising around town (in '74/'75)

another friend in HS who was a Senior in '72  used to let the 9th grade girls drive his car.  do not recall the make... it was a big old tub...really long . he would take each girl in his car alone. he was a sweet guy ...harmless.

anyway one time he let me drive. i was only 15 and only had steered Go-Karts around the Fun Lot track.

we were on the local two-lane highway. there were curves in the road,  was driving too fast... almost crashed us into a telephone pole. he said ok "slow down slow down! pull over!" which i did but then realized there are brakes and slammed on them just in time!   he pulled a bottle of Kaopectate out of the glove box and took a big swig of it . that put the kabosh to my "driver- ed!"

I remember putting $4.00 worth of gas in my car and it lasted an entire  week.

I remeber seeing the gas station attendant go out and climb the ladder to change the price during gas wars. I was way a too young to drive then but I recall 18 cents a gallon and you also got a case of Pepsi with a fillup.

I remember my father used to say, "Hey Mac. Give me $2.00 worth." The attendant did and washed his windshield with that purchase. LOL 😂

How did you find the picture of me and my Nova? I was so happy when my dad would let me put gas in the car. Any excuse to drive with my new license.
