Love Sinatra!  I sure wish I'd had the opportunity to see him perform.

Remember Frank - how could one forget him and the late, great Aretha Franklin.  Here you go:

My mom loved FS, I'm 67 and never understood what anyone saw in him as a leading man, but I must say, I do love to hear him sing. That's saying something for someone who adored the Eagles and Stevie Nicks.LOL

I think Frank Sinatra had a beautiful baritone voice that was as smooth and silky as honey. He was a crooner, though, not a singer of popular songs Still, he had one of the best voices of the 20th century.

"I miss the people of the 40's and 50's and really early 60's that had good tone to their voices and could sing a melody and not just scream a song."

I so agree with you.  Their songs told a story, their voices were smooth and pure.  Crooners, indeed.  Love them all!

Now, so much of what passes for "music" is just shrieking and how long someone can hold a screaming note.

I have several CDs of Frank, Dean and others of that era and, when they are playing, it's a pleasure to listen.

Great true story about my parents and Sinatra. Back in the 1930's they heard him sing w/a bandw/a band in Youngstown,Ohio. My Mom looked at Daddy and said he was going to be a BIG star.

As the calender pages fly by, I am watching a Philadelphia AM talk show. They have a new singer who is singing his new song,"Mandy". I thought great song but he'll never get anywhere.

There is a TV commercial running lately in which the song being sung is "I gotta be me".  Not sure if it is actually Frank Sinatra singing it but it sure brings back memories of him and all his great songs like "New York" New York"!

Also, memories of when he did shows with Sammy Davis and Dean Martin and they would all be wearing tuxedos!

Those were the kind of TV shows I wish could come back!

However, it is probably only us over 65 that miss that kind of entertainment!Woman Wink

@Newgate  Those commercials are disgusting.  A man blowing a booger out of one nostril - classy.  Not even getting into the other scenes.

I find it sad that a Sinatra song would be used in such a tasteless manner.

Call me crazy, but I swear that sounds more like Steve Lawrence.

@just bee  I think you are right.  It's Steve Lawrence, not Frank.

It's still a disgusting commercial.  Blech.
