I'm sorry but what could be more classless than your sitting in a nice restaurant and you pull out your cc and unwrap it from the foil? Really? That would be especially good if your a person who has to take out clients or customers.

@151949......if someone wants to use foil to protect their credit cards, who cares? Who are you to call them "classless". As long as they pay their bill, who cares? Sheesh.

QVC is using fear to sell thousands of these "protectors" and laughing all the way to the bank.
I'm more concerned about a server in a restaurant who takes my card and swipes it out of my presence. It's very easy to clone a card that way.

I use a wallet with RFID protection. A few years ago, I got a message from my credit card company to call them. Apparently, someone in Texas had used my card number to charge something. I thank God for Texas, but, alas, I have never been there, so it was obviously fraudulent. There were also charges in my state that were fraudulent, including nearly $500 in groceries in a town where I lived for less than a year in 1981. I'm glad I scrutinized my bill closely because that was in state. The credit card company didn't tell me how this happened, but I hadn't lost my card. I can only wonder whether one of those scanners grabbed my information.
I would recommend using RFID protection. They are going to the chip rather than the swipe method for credit cards now. I'm not sure whether that method is more secure.

I have been reading up on RFID protection because it is one of those things that you really never know if it worked. Most credit card and bank sites say that the cards we have, even the ones with the chips do not have RFID. RFID is used for pass/pay features where you don't have to insert your card. Here is what Chase says:
Do chip cards use RFID (Radio Frequency Identification)?
At this time, Chase cards with chip do not have RFID technology and cannot be scanned for RFID payment. For this reason, there is no need for a special sleeve to protect from accidental scanning.
Your card can be scammed, even if you have it on you, by anybody you give your card to to pay (in a restaurant for example). So, if your credit card information has been stolen, that is more likely how it happened.
Passports and passport cards do have RFID, but accoding to the US Gov site, the RFID doesn' have personal details. "the RFID technology embedded in documents does not include any personally identifying information. What it does have is a unique number that, when read, is associated with a record that has been stored in a secure government database."
Nothing wrong with carrying them or having an RFID wallet, especially if you like the wallet or if it makes you feel better, but I am not sure it is necessary. This all reminds me of Y2K - all the hype and then nothing happened.

I had been wondering the same thing and pretty much, I think it is a gimmick! (see my other post).
