I wondered the same thing. I have a feeling it is a gimmick. If the new chip embedded in credit cards is meant to provide for more protection from fraud this whole thing makes no sense to me.  I think an aluminum foil sleeve around a card would provide the same protection. Maybe someone with more technology expertise will chime in.

Most CC  have a chip. You do not need this RFID set.

It might be easy for people to download some app and come next to you and steal your credit card info and then use it.  But just because it's easy to do, it doesn't mean people will do it.  There are many crimes that might be considered "easy," but most people are law abiding citizens and don't commit crimes!  They exaggerate everything to sell, sell, sell.

i asked two different card companies this question.  Both said the credit card chip is not a RFID chip.  But I have heard that new passports do have an RFID chip.  If that's true, the pouch would be useful for travel.

The chip cards are safer in Europe because they require a PASSWORD when you are making a purchase.  Here,  no password is needed, so they claim that chip card is more vulnurable.

VERY few AMERICAN cards have RFID chips, most are EMV     even with the RFID chips, the "code" they transmit is constantly randomly selected.  Each time your card is "pinged" or scanned, a different code number is produced,  Therefore, even if someone did "scan" your card, they would only be able to use it once.  If you pay attention, the people hyping this up are the people producing or having an interest in the product,  According to TOP security experts (with no investment in a company) these devices are not needed, law enforement have said that also,  you need to be more aware and careful of false skimmers being put on ATM machines and people stealing your info theough internet hacking.   My daughter had her ID stolen, and it turned out to be her chriropractor,  someone she willingly trusted with her info,  according t law enforcement, THOSE are the peopl you really need to watch out for,  not everyone who works at anyplace you willingly give your info to is honest.

I ordered the little CC slipcover thingies from Amazon , 12 for like $12.  Included were 2 for passports.  Gave half of them away and use the others on my cards just in case.  I know no one who has ever had a problem although every host on QVC has. LOL
