Re: Putting Fall/Winter clothes away

I never put away winter clothes. I just put them on the back of the rod in the closet. Winter clothes in Arizona last decades.

Re: Putting Fall/Winter clothes away

Putting away is very slow for my closet with my back.  I had worked quite a bit and some summer was in front of the winter that was out.

I'm really sorry to hear about your back.😔❤️

Rest and heating pad are the only things that ever helped mine a little bit.

Putting away winter and sorting through sizes is going to be a daunting project for me too.  It's hard to know what you should keep once you've lost some weight.

I actually have three different bunches to sort through and figure out what to do with.  One group of clothes should be easy.  I know I'll probably never wear that size again, so I should just donate those.

Its the other two that's tricky for me.  Most everything I have are clothes I wear at my normal weight.  However, they're too big for me now, but not so much so that I should get rid of them....maybe?  Here's where I'm stuck.

Ive been ill for the past year and lost nearly 25lbs.  I only have a few pairs of jeans and shorts I can wear.  As for shirts, I need some, but have been wearing my regular sized ones.  Shirts are something I need to buy more of.

This makes organizing my small but overflowing closet tricky.  I wonder if I should just put ALL of my regular sized clothes in storage and leave only what I can wear NOW?

I purged a lot of clothes and shoes a few months ago so I am ready to go!

Re: Putting Fall/Winter clothes away

As long as you don't have belly fat, you could be good at your size you're at now.  My friend weighs 20+ lbs more than me, but no belly fat.  She may have trouble with her knees down the road (replacement), but she works out and is happy with her weight.

As far as switching out clothes, winter clothes have been in upstairs bedrooms and summer clothes in the two downstairs bedrooms.  I never *move* them.

It will take a while but I'm putting Fall/winter away and bringing Spring /summer out.  I'm purging things that are too big or not my style anymore.  Taking my time, trying things on because I want to do a thorough job this time around.  Went through my shoes and boots this morning and got them down to just the ones I'm 100% certain I'll wear.  I say I'm a fashionista and I am but I'm also addicted to shopping.  I'm better than I was before retirement but I still have a way to go.  I still buy too much stuff.   I can't believe I'm saying this but after losing 70 pounds, I'm finding it hard to maintain my weight.  I'm happy and healthy at a 14/16 but I'm still losing weight.  I don't want next spring to come around and have to buy smaller clothes!   I have to increase my calories incrementally until I'm maintaining my weight.  It's crazy.  Not something I ever had to think about before.

I'm going to preface this by saying that any weight is ok if you are happy but I am just curious...if you're still losing weight why don't you just keep it up and lose more if that's what your body is naturally doing with your new healthier habits?

I think if you're eating the correct foods in the correct amounts then your body is functioning correctly and losing more weight. There are some that believe we have a healthy "set weight" and maybe your body wants to be that...

Again, that just struck me and I was curious.....

Also, I'm forever purging and organizing my closet, it's a running joke with my husband....

I don't want to lose so much weight that the clothes I now own are too big!  I don't want to spend money replenishing my wardrobe again!  And I like myself at the size I'm at now.  I don't want to risk going soft, flabby and wrinkly and at my age; I do think that would happen if I lose another 20 pounds.  I'm not really interested in a low number on the scale.  My health numbers are all terrific now.  Aesthetically my body looks good.  I'm happy with where I am.  My friend is a doctor and she sent me an article on how to increase calories incrementally in a healthy way to stabilize weight.  I've been eating 1300 calories on a low carb diet for nearly two years and I did go up to 1450 three months ago but I have lost 10 pounds in that time so my next increment is 1650 calories for two months.  I think that will work for me.

I wanted to switch out spring/summer with fall/winter since it was in the mid 80s for a while. The highs are in the 50s for the coming week so I'll wait a little longer.

@chrystaltree   I've always been naturally thin and also have to be careful to maintain my weight...without adding junky food. I've added healthy protein shakes sometimes.

I did my closet switch out a month ago and was amazed that I'm still wearing the same 1/3 of my clothing, reach for the same good fitting slack/jeans and tops that flatter. It's really tough to think about donating so much I don't wear and have kept those items for way too many seasons.

@chrystaltree

You said, "I'm finding it hard to maintain my weight."

Am I understanding this statement correctly?  You're continuing to lose weight that you're not actively trying to lose?

Not to unnecessarily worry you, but if you're losing weight for no apparent reason, you may want to visit your doctor.
