Okay, I must have slept thru this when it was explained, but I haven't the foggiest idea why some hosts frequently say something like, "my purple ladies are going to love this," when showing an article of clothing that is purple. In the last couple of weeks, I have heard it several times. Not so for other colors during the same time period.
I am very familiar with the Red Hat Ladies Club in my area and they are probably all over the country, and maybe there is something similar for purple. But why is there a (seemingly) constant inference to the purple ladies?
I love that color but have never considered myself a purple lady, per se. I love most colors. Well, orange makes me look like I am on my last leg in life, completely wipes out my complexion. I'm very fond of blue, but I never hear a host mention anything about "our blue ladies will love this."
So, what is the deal?
Thanks in advance for any post which will shed some light on how this came about. I have a feeling I am going to feel quite inadequate when you tell me why, and I find it should have been obvious to me! ![]()

@World Traveler I would assume that she is referring to ladies who love/wear the color purple. But you know what they say about assuming!

That is how I take it too, Ladies who enjoy/buy/wear/decorate with the color purple.
I suppose blue, green etc. may be more prevalent/popular so some consider an item in purple more unusual hence the shout out to the "purple Ladies".
Sweaters come in blue all the time, maybe less often in purple.
That's my take.
Yes, I am a purple Lady LOL!!!

Agreeing with @phoenixbrd.
Fashionably, those with cool tones are said to look nice in purple hues. Warm tones, not so much.
Then there is the whole psychology of the color purple (or any other color). For those who believe in deeper meanings within color preferences. A google search will bring up many sites and articles devoted to that subject.
Otherwise, I have not heard of a group called Purple Ladies officially, like the Red Hat group.

I'm wearing purple pants right now!
I guess I don't generally wear it close to my face as it's not always a great color for my complexion.

They are pushing that color because it's the new fashion color for 2018, Ultra Marine.

I have a friend who is a purple lady. She just loves the color and almost everything she has is purple, including her car.
Maybe, they are referring to people like her.

Thanks for all the replies. I appreciate the input.
I actually like purple, but was just looking in the closet now and don't have a thing in that color. I didn't care for the style of the clothes that the hosts were showing when the "purple ladies" comments were being made. But would love to have something in that color if it is a deep purple.
Now my radar is up for a new outfit in purple! ![]()
Thanks again!

@World Traveler@Carmie@blackhole99@Sweetbay magnolia@LurkyLoo@ChiliPepper
The Red Hat Society is based on
this poem
that begins
"When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat which doesn't go,
and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on
brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals,
and say we've no money for butter........"
(by Jenny Joseph)
The members usually dress in purple
with red hats and sometimes are called
"the purple ladies". So sometimes that's
the meaning.
😊

@newziesuzie Oh, oh, oh! That must be it! I bet the hosts are referring to the Red Hat Society gals. I never thought about the fact they wear purple; it's the red hat I always notice. That makes sense now.
Thank you! ![]()
