My dear friends, it is with a heavy heart and much sadness that I inform you of my sister, Dottie's passing at 5:30 this morning, on her 94th birthday. My niece, Jackie, and I were standing on either side holding her hands when suddenly she took my niece's hand and then my hand and placed them on her heart on top of one another. We believe that is when she took her last breath. She had been silent and very still all night. We both feel it was her way of telling us to take care of each other as she so often did.

However, my brother is taking it so very hard, and I am keeping it together for him as well as my niece. Even though I had a Carer for Dottie, Jackie was by her side all the years we were in England and this loss will leave her feeling very much lost and alone.

One bit of good news, my SIL was sent back to the Care Home this afternoon. Ian has gone to get her so she can join us at my niece's for homemade ice cream and cake in honor of Dottie's birthday. We had decorated Dottie's room in the wee hours of the morning, but sadly she never got to see the balloons, streamers and flowers.

Thank you all for your kind, caring words during my sister's illness and especially these past few days.
