If the authenticity of any organization or web site can not be verified, it should be avoided.

Many of them likely are legitimate, because just like with products that you purchase, political entities share databases.

If your husband gave any address, phone or email information or if he donated to anyone, you will receive many requests for donations from the party, candidates, and PACs (groups with causes in alliance with your party and candidates).

Since you indicated they are coming by mail, just send them back empty and force them to pay for return postage.  Or else recycle.

DH's name is out there if he follows a party and it will not stop.

Perhaps he will also enjoy being a volunteer?

Based on my past written and verbal comments on this type of solicitous material, I no longer receive any!  Hopefully I insulted the right people.

I do donate occasionally.  I'm then prepared to find my name on lists they have sold.  (Not all candidates do this)  I don't mind that, but I do mind the phone calls and wonder where they get my number.  I simply tell them I don't give out my credit card online, period.  I tell them to email me, which they never do, because this is a phone mill.  Legitimate but a pain in the ****.
