Re: Please help me decide...memorial gift

Just my opinion...I wouldn't get such a permanet reminder of her husbands passing. Where will she put it? Every time she sees it it'll remind her of the worst day of her life. I'd send her flowers.

Re: Please help me decide...memorial gift

As someone who went through 2 significant losses this years, I would not want any chackies. I'd rather see donations to their favorite charity, a Mass offered for them, or a home cooked meal delivered to me.

It’s beautiful, but putting myself in her position I would have difficulty looking at it and I would probably hide it in a drawer somewhere because it would hurt too much.

Maybe it would be some thing that I could pull out in a year or two.

But you know your friend better than I do.đź’•

Although this doesn't pertain to the two things shown above, as a widow who received a couple of these types of things, imo please don't ever give something with the name of the deceased and dates on it. I particularly mean engraved with "John Smith 1960-2000". Those things went straight back into the boxes never to be seen again. Even if they weren't engraved, I doubt I would have left them out for more than a few months.

@ID2  @CalminHeart

I did also send flowers, a funeral spray, as well as a Mass card. I will be attending the funeral tomorrow in Kentucky. Leaving today from NJ.(10 hour drive)I think she will like the plaque. I would! Have a good day.🤗

I'm sorry for your loss. Either one you choose, she'll know it's from you, and from your heart. When or even if, she doesn't want to see it at some point, she can put it away. She may want it out, they both are beautiful.
