@SilleeMee I was just reading my daily copy of Discover Colorado Newsletter and the mentioned the Cherokee Ranch and Castle. Anyone ever been there?
Cherokee Ranch & Castle, 6113 N Daniels Park Rd, Sedalia, CO 80135, USA
It's really a castle that appears to have been built on the crest of a mountain. You can make reservations to have English High Tea there then tour the place. Looks quite spectacular. Google it.

@Kachina624 . Yes I've been! It was our second year here 1999 and had friends in town so we went.
It's a beautiful part of town, somewhat rural and horse / ranch country but very close to the suburbs of Highlands Ranch a huge development. Don't remember much about the castle itself, the land is what is spectacular. Pretty sure since we were there parcels of the ranch have been sold to developers.
The woman that owned it made a name for herself raising a certain type of cattle that supposedly couldn't live in extreme weather as we have here in CO. She never gave up and she was ultimately successful.

Thanks for posting about that place. I've never heard about it and I've been to areas surrounding Sedalia many times and never came across it. Might have to go and see what it's all about! The pictures of the castle online look enticing. A real genuine castle right here in Colorado!

@SilleeMee I thought it looked very interesting and would love to have a really formal tea. So is this Sedelia close to Denver? Not familiar with it, never been there.

@Kachina624 . Sedalia is southwest of Denver, next to Castle Rock and south of that huge development I mentioned Highlands Ranch. Big sprawling suburbs are adjacent, Sedalia however has acreage minimums for building houses.
Look at a map and include Chatfield Reservoir which is in the farthest southwest part of Littleton and you'll see that Sedalia is about 15 mins south of there. Same with Highlands Ranch and Denver 15 - 20 mins away. Close to civilization but it has a great rural feeling.
Also look up Bud's Bar in Sedalia, been there since 1949. Lots of locals, really get a flavor for the town in there. Hamburgers only, "no fries dammit" is their motto.
Sorry to answer for you @SilleeMee but Sedalia is a fond area local to us, about 15 mins away.

I mostly know the area of Sedalia for Devil's Head Lookout forest fire lookout tower. Hiked up the trail to that one and climbed the stairway to the top of of tower. What a view from up there. 143 steps in the staircase.
I also know some people who live in an area called Castle Pines. Breathtakingly beautiful area! Only in my dreams could I live there.

@SilleeMee . Same, have friends in Castle Pines, outstanding area. Lots of sports figures live in that area too.
Wouldn't it be nice if we could get a group together including Colorado ladies @Kachina624 and have a high tea? Would love that ![]()
