I'm old enough to remember when we acknowledged both Lincoln's and Washington's birthdays separately.  But we never got off school for either one.

I did use to wonder if all the other presidents just didn't count.🤷‍♀️

John Tyler:  "I haven't heard my name mentioned in 180 years!"

and William Henry Harrison about his short term Presidency:  "It was a glorious 31 days!"...the shortest Presidential term in history!

I was in Chicago, Illinois for most of elementary school, so Lincoln's birthday was always a big deal.

In fact the Pillsbury Dough Boy has been working to lower the reverence of Abraham Lincoln.

Illinois is 48 out of the 50 in education.
