PREPARING FOR LOTS OF KIDS ON HALLOWEEN

[ Edited ]

OMG, since kids couldn't trick or treat last year, I'm expecting them in droves on Sunday night. It gets dark earlier, so the little ones may arrive by 6PM.

We have many children in our neighbohood and a few crashers from nearby neighborhoods. We purchased 4 huge bags of mixed candy treats in preparation.

No worries that leftovers will be eaten by me. I don't eat candy ( have always pushed away sweets), but just in case, I purchase ones I wouldn't like.

***I'm always ready to get the door....always dressed in black anyway, but add scary stage makeup around 7:30 after the younger ones have gone home. I can make bloody facial scars, torn up arms and extremely bruised eye sockets. What fun!!

n the 27 years I have lived here we have never had any Trick or Treaters. Told hubbs when he was out the other day to pick up a couple bags o'candy just in case and make sure it is something he likes. He bought peanut butter cups.

@Group 5 minus 1  My DH always picks those out of the bags. The poor kids rarely get them.

They advertised a shortage of candy this year. Not so...there were huge bags everywhere!!! The press creates a panic.

Re: PREPARING FOR LOTS OF KIDS ON HALLOWEEN

I LOVE Halloween and am hoping we get the number of trick or treaters closer to our pre-pandemic numbers! We give out full size candy bars and used to get around 75 kids each year. We've got a lot of young families in our neighborhood and have apartment complexes nearby who also come to our neighborhood. I love seeing all the kids in their costumes, especially the younger ones. I buy candy that we like, just in case. 😉

Re: PREPARING FOR LOTS OF KIDS ON HALLOWEEN

We never get a lot of kids, sometimes none.  We are in a part of town that is sort of park like with huge trees and shrubbery and poor lighting.  And some people keep their front lights off to further disuade trick or treating.  My nephew and his wife a group of friends are all taking their kids to the mall to trick or treat and then one of the parents is hosting a party for the kids at their house.   Daughter #1 is doing something similar with my 5 year old grandson.  Trick or treating on a couple of streets and back to her house for a pizza party Halloween 🎃 games.   I bought a bag of candy just in case but I did the whole Halloween thing when I had kids.  I have passed the Halloween torch to the next generation.

We had a decent amount last year.  Not as many as previous years, but more than I thought we'd get.  I enjoy Halloween.  I hope we get lots of kids.

We "only" had 140 last year - we'll probably be back to our usual 200 this year.

Re: PREPARING FOR LOTS OF KIDS ON HALLOWEEN

We have decided not to participate this year, will lock the storm door, lower the blinds and put a sign up.  The living room/tv is in the front of the house so it's not like we can turn the lights off and retreat to the back of the house.

Last year there were none.

The year before (pre-Covid) we had maybe 10, if that.
