Re: PLANS FOR TODAY...SATURDAY?

Laundry day, decompress day.  I've been going pretty strong this week with getting into a group to learn and do crochet and one for quilting.  My mind is all a buzz with ideas and learning.  I'm getting the cobwebs out.

So today, I'm doing laundry and decompressing.

Re: PLANS FOR TODAY...SATURDAY?

I went grocery shopping early, before it gets too hot. Now I need to spend the afternoon doing some tidying up around the house. ( in Pittsburgh they say "redding up the house" does anywhere else use that term for tidying up?) Planning to stay home and stay in on this hot, humid day. We had dinner at Carabas yesterday and they have a deal - buy one of a certain listed meal and get a free lasagna with a coupon - so we have our lasagna for dinner tonight.

Re: PLANS FOR TODAY...SATURDAY?

Mow lawn. Rest. Mow lawn. Rest. Rinse and repeat.

We've had 2 weeks of 90 deg + before the first day of summer, and lots of rain, lawn hasn't been mowed in a couple weeks. When it was dry enough, couldn't get the mower started, go figure!

Today it's in the 60s, but humid and high dew point, w/e that is!  With my slight asthma, I mow 20-30 minutes then rest. My son will be over sometime with his garden tractor, but I like to do as much as I can, he's pretty busy.

Can't wait until he gets my tractor running!

Why don't they put auto-start buttons on mowers lol!

Enjoy your weekend everyone.

Watching Forbidden Planet, then baseboard installer arrives about 1, after he's done (shouldn't take more than an hour or so he said), off to late lunch/early supper and maybe even a movie with DD.

Oh, and dropping off catalogs from door installer that I picked up on Friday.  They are for the other four board members so we can review with intent to choose a few new selections for our community so when any resident replaces a door, they will have some improved options.

Re: PLANS FOR TODAY...SATURDAY?

Have no plans, but an incident that was not planned started off my day. Wife has been pet sitting here in town, which tomorrow will be 2 weeks.

Get a call from her early this morning that she locked herself out of the house. Hmmm, and on a weekend to boot! No neighbors close, but fortunately she had a Tracfone in her vehicle which was parked outside(another stroke of luck).

Her Samsung Galaxy S8/car keys/clothes/purse, and the dog, were all locked in the house. I packed up Lily, our canine, and headed over to this home, which at least is in our north part of town. She told me it was a "deadbolt lock", and I did not know there was a deadbolt made that would automatically lock. All of our "double keyed", where you have to use a key on both sides of the lock. They only lock manually, with either locks like ours, or a knob you twist to lock and/or unlock it from the inside.

Had to call a locksmith, weekend prices of course. Ended up outside for almost 2 hours, and of course it was raining to boot. Finally got lock opened and it cost her 2 days worth of her pet sitting fee to pay the locksmith. Why anyone would want a "deadbolt exterior door" to automatically lock behind you certainly escapes me.

Give me the manual key or key and knob deadbolt lock like I've had for years. You cannot lock yourself out without tiurning something, and that would be virtually imposible.

Will be riding recumbent for 45-60 minutes later today, along with my other regular exercises I do on days I do not go ice skating. Other plans? Nope!

Quiet day here in WV.   Hubby and I made a quick run to Dollar General and CVS, a 12 mile round trip from our house.

Re: PLANS FOR TODAY...SATURDAY?

It's dark and dreary here.  My phone says 65 but the window is open and it feels cooler than that.  People walking by are wearing jackets and sweaters.  No rain, that's good.  Last weekend was a big weekend with Father's Day and socializing with friends.  The work week was a killer so I'm taking it easy today.  Doing things around the house, catching up on my tv programs.  Hubby is working a 12 hr shift though a nursing agency today.  So, I'm all alone today.  I have jewelry that needs to be cleaned, I keep putting it off.  Today is a good day to do that.

Re: PLANS FOR TODAY...SATURDAY?

After doing errands, which took longer than planned, I cut up and chilled fruit to make sangria tomorrow at DS's house. Will also make chocolate mousse pie in a bit and plan to walk before dinner if the rain holds off.

The past week was a very busy and eventful one. Glad to have some time today. It's been weeks since I have really baked, cooked or prepared anything in the kitchen and the time to do so will continue to be very limited going forward.
