As you can see there are many animal lovers on these forums who do understand and relate.  I too add my condolences and know how difficult it is to lose a pet.  I had several cats and as each one passed, it was never easier, the grief was always deep for each one.

As for people putting a time line on your mourning, do not pay any attention to them.  You have to cry and go through the process of loss as you know.  It takes time and you will get through it.  I hope all of these posts have helped you , everyone truly cares.

I am so sorry for your loss. I had a cat who lived to be 21. I had people tell me I should put him down just because he was old. I thought that was awful. I loved him. Why would I betray him just because he is old? He had arthrtis and it was managed with medicine and vitamins. He went to the vet twice a year for check ups because he was a senior. I feed him senior food.He was old but he was happy and alert. He was old but, he still wanted attention. He still wanted to play even though the he was not as agile do to his arthritis. He had throat cancer and deterioated quite quickly because he couldn't eat. He was in pain and never got mean. He used his litter box up until the end. I had to put him down to end his suffering.  We were fortunate and our vet came to the house so he could pass at home. His name was Handsome and he was a wonderful, gentle cat. He has been gone 5 years and I teared up typing this. There are those of us who do understand. Those who do not understand must have never had a bond with an animal and they have missed out on something special.big Kitty.jpg

@hsawaknow, I am so sorry for your loss.  I have an 11 year old Westie and he is a light in our lives.  It is amazing to me how much light, warmth, and grace come to us through our pet pals.  Every time we lose a pet, we lose a member of our family.  Keeping you in my prayers.  We will all meet again at the Rainbow Bridge.

Re: PEOPLE WONT UNDERSTAND

[ Edited ]

Please don't underestimate people who DO understand your pain, even if they are internet folk.

The people on this forum are exemplary in sharing their understanding and experiences.  They comfort me (even when I'm not the recipient of their comfort) because they DO share pain and sorrow over lost pets so dear to our hearts, and can express themselves so beautifully.

I'm sending you good thoughts and strength for you to grieve as long as you need, but eventually reach the point where you have all the good memories and are grateful of the time you spent together.

I'm so sorry.

I hope when we get to heaven our fur babies are also waiting for us.

@hsawaknow...don’t you waste one minute worrying about people who don’t understand the pain of losing your precious dog. You don’t need people like that in your life. You just lost someone who you loved dearly and loved you unconditionally. Your heart is broken, a piece of it is gone, but you will always have the memories of the love & affection you & Bo shared and no idiot person can ever take that away from you. My heart breaks for you, but know that someday you will have room in your heart for another. Bo wouldn’t want you to deprive yourself of another dog’s love. You’ll know when the time is right. May God comfort you during your time of grief. 💔🐶

So sorry for the loss of your beloved Bo.  I've been down that road, too, and it hurts like crazy!  You think it'll never subside....but with time, it will.

Bo was lucky to have a loving and caring family.  So many dogs are mistreated and neglected; it hurts my heart to think about it.   You should take great comfort in knowing that you gave him a wonderful life and a lot of love.

Wishing you peace and comfort in the days ahead.

@hsawaknow  Sincere condolences on the painful emptiness felt in your lives. Loosing a family member always takes time to grieve and heal. A pet is a vital part of your family life. Take time to cry and grieve; the pain is real and the loss is great. You provided Bo with great love and joy; in return he gave you unconditional love and trust. It would have been more painful to see him in pain one day longer. Blessings as you go through the tough days ahead without your beloved family member. Bo is at peace and painfree. Warm hugs.
