As usual responders blame the op.  I had a tip ready to hand the driver.  There were two of them.  They were not stuck in a tunnel because I checked the traffic report...it was one of the lies told to me by the delivery service.  I did complain to the service.  The only honest and sympathetic response I got was from the final cs person.  He said he did not care what I said to the driver and the driver was there to deliver my furniture not insult me and throw my chair onto the truck.  Yes, I will inspect for damage.  I really do not think they knew where my furniture was because they said it was on another truck and not the original truck which is why they called back after it was rescheduled.  And why don't all of you people confine your dogs over and over, move furniture around to make the delivery job easier.  Why don't you waste an entire day hearing lies and stories of tunnels and delivery times that are never correct.  And I was not yelling at the driver just complaining about the misinformation.  He should have simply said I am sorry...where would you like your chair?  That is his job.  Maybe the problem was him!  But not on these forums.

Why didn't you tell us you checked to see if there was an accident?  You wouldn't have received the responses you did.

We can only go by what OP's tell us.

I did say the dispatcher said there was an accident and delivery would be hours away and then within minutes delivery was at my door...an obvious lie from the dispatcher.  But hey please forgive my not being clear enough...seems to still be my fault.  Good thing there are cs reps who think the customer is right and not a delivery person  throwing furniture around.  My thanks to David at PBarn for outstanding efficiency, knowledge, empathy.  Perhaps my days of ordering online will end.  Between this awful experience, stamp order  sitting in the local PO now for a week waiting to be scanned, an Amazon order they delivered to the wrong address, and orders here that suddenly go on back order...brick and mortar looking much kinder.

But none of your complaints seem to be the driver's fault. Did he say that he was stuck in a tunnel? Would it have hurt to be gracious when he showed up and save your complaints for those who were giving you incorrect info.? His reaction seemed a little over the top for what you are telling us.  But just maybe he had had a horrible day delivering furniture and getting grief from those who were upset about late deliveries. Try putting your self in his shoes. We should all be thankful that there are people who work hard to deliver our purchases even if they do come a little later than expected.

I went back and reread the first message. My goodness, the run-around @Gabidog got all day! If you’ve ever had to stay home all day to plan and accommodate for a delivery it’s easy to understand how she feels. I certainly do and completely sympathize with her.

I remember once I had a husband and wife team coming to do some work. They had given me an early timeframe and then didn’t come when they said. My son, who was in high school at the time, needed me to go into town to help him with a ride situation but I couldn’t because I was still waiting. They never called with an explanation. By the time they showed up it was after 4:00. I asked what happened. She said they’d had a family emergency and I right away felt bad for them. Their cat was up a tree. They had a business and kept me waiting all day with not even a phone call because their cat was up a tree?! I understand their concern for their cat but I think cats can find their way down.

So i understand the inconvenience and frustration @Gabidog must have gone through.  😕

Maybe there was  an accident in the tunnel earlier in the day, and he was stuck behind it, and that is why he was late. Then when you called, he had made it past the tunnel when the cs/dispatch told you about the accident.

So, no, NOT a lie.

The Sky looks different when you have someone you love up there.

@Gabidog

I understand your frustration but I had similar experience.

In June, 2020 we purchased a new complete mattress set at one of the better furniture stores.  My expected delivery was August 27 between 10-1.  No show my order supposedly didn't make the truck.

Then, rescheduled for 9/5 (Saturday) between 3-6.  At 6 I called they had 4 stops before me new time 10-11 pm.  What!!! I said no way...

The delivery company then rescheduled for 9/10 AM first stop no show🤬. I was furious ...

I found no help from CS and supposedly they only deliver in my area Sat-Wed-Thursday. 9/24 Yup they came to deliver but didn't have the correct bed frame🤬🤬

I was fuming had this king mattress & boxspring sitting in my DR against wall until 10/12.  They finally did have it right...

The drivers are employed with Havertys not a outside company. They explained how "overwhelmed" they were as most drivers never returned (probably made more on unemployment).

I was sympathetic but geez 5 times to get it right...but in the end I ❣️my bed...so hopefully your chair & ottoman are perfect🙂

We need to have more understanding especially now these orders are finally getting filled and everyone is anxiously waiting for delivery😉

(PS: I ordered specific tiles for my bathroom remodel in March -- estimated delivery 5/3 well I'm still waiting BUT at least bought before prices went crazy🙂)

It's not a 'blame the OP" game. OP keeps digging herself into a hole with all the defenses. She sounds entitled and rude to me.

Not being defensive...just telling you of an experience I had.  Also not entitled and I was not rude to anyone including the driver.  Maybe since you do not know me and you were not there you should keep your comments about me to yourself because it only makes you seem rude.  As always these forums are supported by mean girls.
