Starts Wed night. Here in Pikesville MD in my area we have the largest Kosher Food Mkt in the country, people from NY and NJ come here on bus trips to shop there. Called 7 Mile Mkt.

@reiki604- Your post brought back childhood memories when I lived in N.J. and my Grandmom would make her own chrain. At the Seder and any other Jewish holidays it was served, my Uncles, Father and Grandpop's faces would turn beet red with sweat on their foreheads. They loved it hot on the Gelfite Fish.
They are all gone now but the memories live on!

in Fishtown (Philly neighborhood) it's a Jewish desert. I think I'm the ONLY one. No synagogues in sight and even less Matzoh! I go to Jersey (Cherry Hill) to get my supplies.

You probably already know this, but you can select EDIT on your original message here, & you can EDIT the thread topic too, if you wanted to change it to Wed Night for Passover

Shlishkas, kasha varnishkes, egg barley and chopped liver. to name a few. I went in because I grate my own chrain and the horshradish rooots in lthe grocery were small, pale and not very appealing. In this store I was flabbergasted by the size and freshness of what they had. It was stupid expensive but so is everything. I've sterilized my jars and am preparing some today as I promised small jars. to the members of my mah jongg group that meets tomorrow. I have my gloves, eyesheilds at the ready with all. the windows open!!!!
pre-covid a guest used to bring freshly grated horseradish from the Lower East Side, that stuff is intense
are you looking forward to the new card?
My USPS informed delivery says it will be here today. I'll be able to see it after my weekly game today. Have you gotten yours?

According to an invitation going out in my neighborhood from a certain religion, it's after sunset on Nisan the 14th .
I know it depends on a person's religious belief.

We always celebrated with family. My favorite is the charoset, with apples, nuts and Manischewitz! That stuff is the bomb on matzah!
I love to watch the 10 Commandments at that time of year- Amazing film. A happy and joyous Pesach to all who celebrate! Skye- 🥰

@Shanus wrote:As usual, my food stores carry very little foods for this holiday...no flour or leavening can be used in cooking. There are always slim pickings and if not there the day it's put out, items are sold out in a few days.
On careful inspection, and many years of experience, checking dates is essential since last year's Passover foods are also put on the shelves to sell first.
My area is fairly well populated with many ethnicities and religions because of the major three universities and associated hospitals. The "research triangle" also brought many families from around the country...many Jewish ones who celebrate the holidays.
I finally found what I needed at Wegman's on an end cap hidden at the back of the store.
come to New Jersey we have all the Passover fixings you could need
@jackthebear Yes! I lived in Morris County and there was anything/everything you could need! I miss living in Jersey very much. 💔🥺

Happy Passover tonight!
My complaint here in my Publix ( between Miami and Fort Lauderdale area) is that they will display foods that are Jewish style but not Kosher for Passover on the tables.Someone who is going to a Seder might not realize this especially if they are not Jewish. I point this out every year.
@jackthebear
Got my new mah jongg card. Like it. Addition hands back. Yeah.
