Yes, we are having a party at a country club on Friday night. I am going. I bought a dress that is so unlike me. I lost 97 pounds in the last few years and bought 3 dresses at Macy's but decided to keep this one. It is not my usual style but It looks cute on my slimmer body. I am going for it!

When I was out there working, yup.  There was always a party and I indulged.  Great post.

judy0330......You're kidding!  Wow, I would never do that.  Hey, I'm not taking my duds off for nooooooobody!  LOL!

Yeah, that's a drag when people get too...well you get it.

That must have been very embarrassing for you.  Wow.  Besides it's a holiday party.  Not a day at the beach in summer...???    Oh well......

As another Fed, I remember way back when I was a GS-9, I was called in to our big boss's office and told he wanted me to plan the Christmas party - we were an office of 150 people.  I didn't remotely want to do this, but I didn't want to say no either.  He told me I could form a committee.  So I said I would do it.

He later told me it was the best party we'd had to date - AND that it showed a lot of skills that he'd taken into consideration for future promotions.

So even though I was an introvert and might not have even gone to the party, if I hadn't been responsible for it, I learned a lot.

Interestingly, much later when I used to speak to Federally Employed Women and other forums about taking on extra responsibilities to show skills that would be remembered later, I got a lot of push back - I shouldn't HAVE to do that.  Well no you don't HAVE to, but then again, you are missing opportunities to show what you can do.
