@MoJoV wrote:@Shanus Thank you for your post. I could have written almost every thought you posted. It reminds me I'm not alone in this nightmare.
Some days are good, some bad. I cry some days with hopelessness. Another day I'll take a walk in the brilliant Autumn and feel energized. I'm grateful for the things I have but sometimes it's just not enough to lift me. I miss the nearness of my children and granddaughters.
I'll stop my whining now.😞
@MoJoV Letting any feelings out is necessary. Stay well.

Hi @QVCkitty1 I hope you don't live in one of the shut down neighborhoods. Thankfully, I don't. As a fellow New Yorker, we have to remember that our rate of infection is still really low, and that, since it can go up really fast, our government is calling attention to the uptick to keep it down. I think this is going to last for a while longer, but I have faith that we will overcome it. I see so much creativity around us, to make things as good as can be under the circumstances.

@CrazyDaisy I do not act out of fear. I prefer to use common sense and listen to the advice of health professionals.
Common sense will tell you and health care professionals know that a persons mental health is just as important as physical health.
Exposing yourself to a harmful and potentially deadly disease does not lead to good mental health.

@ROMARY wrote:All I can say is that maybe it depends on the area?
Some areas, from what I've been hearing, are continuing to socialize, etc. Pot lucks, gatherings, etc.
Now, I don't know how true it is. All second and third hand information. All info re: other states/areas.
Anyway, wishing everyone the best of luck. I'd say that luck matters.
Keep as safe as possible.
It doesn't depend on the area. It depends on whether one is sufficiently exposed to an infected person. We may be exposed to an infected person's aerosolized virus and not know it. We may be exposed to an infected person who is shedding virus even though they are not showing symptoms.

Something 2020 taught me was hope, gratitude, encouragement and positivity is a lot of work. Each day I roll up my sleeves and some days I fail and just have to do better the next day. I think about my grandparents' lives and the things my parents went through. My life is so much easier than their lives and they went through with grace and smiles. I can do it, too. Yes, I'm getting antsy and tired of 2020.

At this point I have no expectation of this being over in my lifetime. I'm going to be 70 tomorrow.
From what I have read and heard on the news I guess the current plan is to do nothing and rely on herd immunity. Drs. Fauci and Brix, I assume, are out. The main guy now Dr. Atlas is a neuroradiologist. He's a fan of herd immunity. He does MRIs of the head and neck and has no expertise in public safety, epidemiology or infectious disease.
Some hospitals were over run in April and May so how will they handle the amount of sick folks it will take for herd immunity. There will be millions.
A few people have gotten sick twice so is immunity even possible. Add the fact that 50% of people won't take a vaccine when and if it's available.
If things don't change I will be long gone before this is anywhere under control. I'm not pessimistic, just realistic.

@ShanusI'm confused. From your first post, I am assuming your family is local and you are having outdoor visits with them now. I understand your concern with the weather changing you will not be able to continue these outdoor visits.
But, (and I may be mistaken here), aren't you the one who just did a makeup application on a stranger you met in Nordstroms? I would think you would be more cautious of inviting a stranger into your home or workplace than your family.
@Travone I was reading back through my thread to see if I missed any replies and spotted yours (think it's yours with so many others listed on same post). Re: my makeup session with a client. I was masked, took her temp. We both washed hands with sanitizer and I remained gloved. Any makeup that could not be properly cleaned afterwards was tossed or she brought her own (like mascara and lash curler). Lipstick/gloss is applied by dipping into the containers with a swab only once and thrown out. Disposable sponges are used for liquid products which are poured on a palette and never touch the tubes or jars. Pencils are sharpened before and after each client and sharpener itself cleaned with alcohol after each client. Brushes/tools are also sanitized. These precautions are taught and I've been doing this for decades and always have used the highest levels of safety for my clients and myself. The addition now is temps, gloves and mask. Happy to answer any other concerns.
