OMG in Heaven! What a week!

[ Edited ]

Last week was one of the most stressful I've had in a long time.

I tend to have nightmares and the one I had recently I had was a doozie--I'm not going to describe it because it was a re-enactment of a bad experience I had earlier in life. Apparently I jumped out of bed and ran to escape the bad guy and slammed into a jewelry armoire (it's from QVC, btw) which fell on top of me. My DH had quite a time extricating me because I was also thrashing around and yelling.

And I have some rather horrifying bruises--I'm glad they don't show because I'm afraid someone might think my husband is a wife-beater.

I had this kind of experience--nightmares, some of which resulted in bruises--several times last week, including last night. I think I'm going to have to contact my former shrink for a few sessions, so we can figure out what's causing this and put a stop to it.

My cat keeps up-chucking the middle of the night, and makes sure he does it on the carpet. We've had him checked out by his vet; she says it's a case of his eyes being bigger than his stomach and it's not our imagination--cats really DO prefer carpet to hardwood floors. Once in a while we've gotten to him before he does the deed, run to place him on the kitchen or dining room hardwood floors, and he actually tried to get away to he can barf on the carpet! Cat Very Happy

My doctor gave me a liquid medicine for my hepatitis, to ramp up my system to help me get rid of the nasties my liver generates (or something like that). He insists I must "go" 3 times a day. It really kicked into overdrive IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT.

My sister is feeling the effects of cancer treatment and she feels like hell. I really feel sorry for her. It's so frustrating; I wish I could help but there's nothing I can do.

Oh well...after a cold, dark depressing winter the birds are starting to come back. When I went to retrieve the morning paper, there was a chrorus of birdsong. Maybe that's a sign that things will get better; I sure do hope so.

I'm not a professional but why are you feeding your cat so much. I would just give it a little spoonful a few times a day. We have to do that anyway because the dog will eat it all.

I'm sorry you've had such a rough week.  Do you think your med's could be causing these bad dreams?  You have a lot of sister-stress and that leaves you frustrated.  Maybe talking to your other doctor would help settle your worries and let you destress some.  It sounds like a good idea.  You deserve some rest too and that might help you so you can function better.  Best wishes,  for you and your sister.  I hope you get some peaceful rest very soon.

I'm sorry that you are having such a bad time. Maybe my cat puke story will give you a much needed laugh. I was laying on my stomach in bed, and my Maggie cat jumped up and got on my back, the she proceeded to upchuck. I couldn't move without getting it all over, I was at a real disadvantage. I tried to crawl out of bed, so at least the stuff wouldn't get on the covers. It must have looked really funny and inspite of it, I really miss that cat.😺

sweetee2, because I'm an idiot! Cat LOL

Seriously, we DO need to stop "giving in" when he howls for a snack. But any cat lover knows how persistent a cat can be, especially when it wants FOOD. I've tried to comvince the rest of my family NOT to feed him whenever he howls for a snack, and especially not at bed time. But I can't convince them and it IS hard to listen to his carrying on all day.

I feel sure if he tapered him down over the course of a week or two, we could get this under control. But if hubby and sister won't co-operate there's not much I can do...although I have thought seriously of locking up his food and keeping the key. Drastic, I know, but that's about what it would take.

And I have to confess he has such a sweet little kitten face (he's 13 years old) that that there are times I can't resist. So I realized this probably makes me an idiot but I find it hard  say no when he gives me that "Oh please, I'm starving to death!" (he weighs in at 15 lbs.) pleading little kitty look.

@FuzzyFace  I am so sorry you are so stressed over your sister.  That is hard to deal with.  I have been there in past years.  I also feel bad for you that you are having bad nightmares.  I know medicines can cause this so please ask you doctor to help.  You are  definitely in a state of anxiety.  Again, I know because I have experienced it big time!

I understand about your kitty also.   I have the same problem with ours but pets are important to us and can also be therapy for us.

I will say a prayer for you and your sister!  Take care!

@FuzzyFace....wow you have had a bad week...I hope you can resolve the issue that is causing your nightmare.

as far as the cat...we only have had dogs but the vet told me to only feed her 2x day....same amount each time...sometimes she cries for more and we give her a little but we keep her on a pretty tight schedule as far as feeding...

Re: OMG in Heaven! What a week!

@FuzzyFace  Oh my goodness, you are having a time of it.  I agree with the others that medication might be the problem with the nightmares.  I hope you aren't too sore.....thank goodness you didn't break anything.  If it makes you feel any better, I still have the bruise on my forehead from last Wednesday night when I collided with my sister's front door on my way out of her house (I moved, and so did the door).  I said I was OK, but it was dark, so she couldn't see the goose egg!

I totally understand about your kitty tossing his catfood.  My guy doesn't really eat too much, but he has long fur and grooms a lot.  His favorite time to upchuck is usually about 3:00 a.m. when he's lying on the pillow next to me in bed.  As soon as I hear the first gag, I spring into action and shove him off the bed.  Of course, that means I then have to clean it off the carpet below, but that's better that the comforter!

Re: OMG in Heaven! What a week!

Miss Lorraine:  I read your post that you see tired of hearing your cat meow. Well mine does the same thing but, I  realized it was a pattern. Every time I go into the kitchen here she comes running. Didn't matter if she had just eaten or not, so I  give she a spoon full. She always leaves some and here comes the dog. If your family can't cooperate make them clean up the mess. Our cat is 12.
