@Luvsmyfam

Ok check back in tomorrow. As @Kachina624 said don't touch the freezer. We had a 33 hour outage last year and all food was aok.  Supposedly up to 48 hrs for a full freezer.

We finally got a whole house generator.  Worth the money.   It is set to come on 30 secs after power goes out. It runs everything, the heat, a/c, all lights, and internet if the server isn't out. We love it.  Our power went out all the time before we got it, lol not so often now. But last outage was 11 hours so we really were happy. I'm in California

We put one in as well.  After the experience we had a few years back and everything was a mess and without power for days we decided to invest.  Those were miserable days and we had a gas generator and that was a pain.  Lost everything in our freezer.  We were lucky to find a generator after a few days.    Lots of damage and took a long time to be able to complete all the repairs too.

Pray we don't get another one like that.  Last storm here my front tree had to be taken down.  Big branch fell and so glad towards the street and not the house.  I miss that tree and front room is so hot in the summer without it. I have a two trees in back and one could do some damage to the house but the other one would be ok.

Re: Not looking forward to this

Can you leave the garage door open, and leave the car in the garage?  That way, any loose branches, or larger falling limbs, will hopefully miss the car and still allow you to get out if need be.  I'd better check out our weather for the day too.

Good luck, maybe it will pass your area by.

After reading a few of these, reminds me to have a basement with things we might need in a severe storm.  Prescriptions, batteries, extra water, etc. candles, just in case, etc.,

Whenever we get high winds ,I loose power.Forcast is calling for high winds hail tornados 🌪
This always happens when my freezer is full of my favorite meats
I can not control mother nature but I can prepare for this storm
Number 1 is to get batteries for flashlight Number 2 is to leave my buick out of the garage so I can leave if needed
Probably not a good idea to leave car out bc I surrounded by trees

I'm just west of you. It's supposed to get nasty here too.

Re: Not looking forward to this

If you decide to keep the car in your garage do you know how to disconnect the door from your operator motor and are you able to do it? I have a heck of a time disconnecting ours-practically need to hang on it to get to release!

I hope that you and those you love are safe from this storm, take good care, you have a good plan in place!
