Tomorrow , Illinios is supposed to get horrible storms
Whenever we get high winds ,I loose power.Forcast is calling for high winds hail tornados 🌪
This always happens when my freezer is full of my favorite meats
I can not control mother nature but I can prepare for this storm
Number 1 is to get batteries for flashlight Number 2 is to leave my buick out of the garage so I can leave if needed
Probably not a good idea to leave car out bc I surrounded by trees

Do you have to go to work tomorrow or can you stay home?

The freezer is an ice chest and will keep frozen food at least 2 days if not opened.  I have a small freezer on my covered patio which I recently defrosted.  It took one week for the ice to melt with the door wide open all day, every day.

We have two power stations for this reason. One Labor Day Weekend we were without power for 3-4 days and we had to toss some food. Now the power stations can keep things running if we have such an event again.

keep car in garage. Don't need a tree falling on it. Or hail damage. Do you have a basement? Or a safe place in the house?

Re: Not looking forward to this

We finally got a whole house generator.  Worth the money.   It is set to come on 30 secs after power goes out. It runs everything, the heat, a/c, all lights, and internet if the server isn't out. We love it.  Our power went out all the time before we got it, lol not so often now. But last outage was 11 hours so we really were happy. I'm in California

Re: Not looking forward to this

Yep They have been talking severe storms thru Mo and IL

tomorrow with possible tornado's and winds 70-80 mph.  I'm packing a bag to go to the basement of my apt if needed. Moving my car away from the tree that hangs over the parking lot to a open space where there's no trees.  The weather reports put St. Louis at a 4 out of 5 risk for severe storms (5 being the highest risk) and the storms should roll in about 6 or 7 pm thru midnight.
It was beautiful today, temp up to 80 and a nice breeze so I was able to take my walk

To all who will be possibly affected by the storms, stay alert and safe !

Re: Not looking forward to this

Stay prepared and safe, @Luvsmyfam.  We're on the very outskirts according to the severity map, so I'm hoping to carry on as normal, but we may keep the garage door open, just in case.  We always have our emergency battery packs ready to power a lamp, charge my hearing aids, or charge a phone but we use them with discretion.
