I grew up in the Reformed Church, and am now a member of a United Methodist church. I assure you that "Sunday School" is for all ages. It's not necessarily called that, more like "Adult Education" but it's Sunday School.
Okay dont shoot me for side-tracking, but how in the heck did you read that post? What language or font style is that? LOL very fancy looking. Is everyone else seeing something different on their screens compared to my screen perhaps? Here is a screenshot of what I see on my end... i'm only curious!

@Mesmerized169 - I don't see anything odd like you did. Just normal English.

I was in a smilar situation, except my question is why I did not attend church services, since I worked at the church and did volunteer work. I was asked that by a very blunt member. I was caught off guard but answered honestley. My answer was, "I do want to."
Never asked that question again. You do not have to explain, just a very short answer.

@Ainhisg wrote:My husband and I are at a loss as to what to say when we are asked why we are not attending Sunday School at our church any longer. We would like to say something truthful but not hurtful.
We go to a tiny country church. My husband's brother is the Sunday School teacher. A little over a year ago, he and some of the other men in the church went to a leadership conference, and my BIL came back with a whole new approach to Sunday School. I think I can sum it up by saying that it has become very much "holy roller-ish." (Is that a word? lol) He's become very loud in most aspects of his teaching, and we never get through the whole lesson any longer. AND...they extended the Sunday School time by 15 minutes just to accomodate how long the lessons are taking, and they're still not getting done! My husband and I do not like this type of service or worship style.
It's such a tiny class, but with my BIL's change, a few others now expand on every point, too, and we totally lose our train of thought and are watching the clock. It's not enjoyable any longer nor are we getting anything out of it.
The church is so tiny that it only has one adult class. My husband won't say anything to his brother, but with the recent change of us not showing up, we're bound to get questioned sooner rather than later. Like I said, we would like to say something truthful or even close to truthful...lol...but not hurtful, because we don't want to hurt his brother's feelings.
If it were my family, I would just be honest, but my husband's family is...different. lol Any thoughts as to what we could say?
who is aksing and why are they asking

@Mesmerized169 I see the same craziness as your screen shot. Everything is reversed.

@Mesmerized169, that is what I am seeing too. Unreadable.

@Mesmerized169, @lil spot, @Marp, @Venezia,
This comes up from time to time.
You're seeing the strange character set in @hkrgrl's post because she chose "Symbol" as her customized "Font Family" for her post.
Some of the font family/font face choices don't translate well with certain browsers, devices, operating systems, or some combinations of those, here on the Q Community.
When posting here, it's usually best to stick with the more common font choices.
Hope that helps! I was just peeking in after being away a while, saw this, and wanted to add a comment.😊

Haven't read the responses but I would say something like "we're not getting as much out of it as we'd like so we now choose to study the lesson at home".

Thank you for those who responded on the fancy/crazy font lol. And the last detailed explanation from @dooBdoo, thank you for taking the time to explain, makes sense now.
Here's an interesting thing though!... when I pulled up this message board on my cell phone Chrome browser, i could read her green font just fine! But when I saw it originally on my one laptop computer using a Chrome browser (same type browser), it was that wonky style that I could not read at all. Lol.
And to circle back to the OP's post... @Ainhisg I echo what some others replied and just say you miss the old style/old classes (see if they get the hint) and then make up something to make a quick exit so they dont try to sell the new style on you too hard.

no matter: my first thought was: life is too short to do anything that does not enhance your life, dread going to or to please someone else.
i more than likely would say: BIL-insert name- we like the old style and the new one is not a good fit for us.
thank him and move on.
i would 'make' your husband say it. keep it in the family, so to speak.
if he balks, than take the bull by horns and do it.
it does not have to mean, just to the point....
best of luck
@Mesmerized169, @lil spot, @Marp, @Venezia, and all...
Quoting @hkrgrl's post but using the Font Family "Arial" (instead of the "Symbol" font) to allow posters to see it without the Greek and math symbols.🌻
