Re: Need a Mellow Moment? How About Willie Nelson's 'Stardust' Album?

Willie Nelson is a treasure. He enjoys what he does, and it is evident in his music. There is a story behind the Stardust album, but I am not certain I am remembering it correctly. It was something about he had a difficult time getting it produced because the powers that be thought he was too far out of his lane. I guess he showed them!

@golding76

Just saw a video, on 1 of my FB Groups, of Willie sitting on a stool in 1965. He was wearing a Suit and Tie, and no beard. Don't remember the song, and I just watched it half our ago. His voice was the same, but I have never seen him looking like that, ever!

Always been a fan of him, and his music. Over the last many years I have had many tell me I look like Willie. Others say George Carlin.

Thanks for his beautiful version of that very old song.

Willie's older sister and bandmate, Bobbie, passed away last week at the age of 91.

Willie has credited her with being much more talented than himself.

I saw Willie Nelson's concert years ago when I lived in Houston. It was wonderful! Thanks for the link to "Stardust."

I've seen him in concert twice.  One word sums it up.  Legend.

Willie is one of the best the country has ever produced.  I'd read about his sister's death but never was aware of her before.  You know he will miss her deeply.

Like others, I had the privilege of attending one of Willie's concerts in the early 2000s.  He appeals across the board.

An unexpected reward of this thread is hckynutjohn's giving us a hint of his physical appearance.  Looking like Willie or George Carlin...  Pretty good.  It fits with the "personality" that comes through his posts.  john is a cool dude.

Re: Need a Mellow Moment? How About Willie Nelson's 'Stardust' Album?

I haven't clicked on the link, so I don't know what song it is.

But I DO know what a beautiful voice WN has.   I'm not even (at all!!) a fan of country western music but I like a fair amount of his songs.   I even went to a concert, ages ago, and it was very enjoyable.

One of the best things - this was an indoor venue and they made all those guys check their goofy hats so that everybody else could see, since there were no tiers on the whole floor level of the venue.  (It was a casino showroom either here or up at the lake)

I also really liked that movie he did.  Darn, I forgot the name of the movie but he played a musician touring, with a wife (Dyan Cannon) and son back home, and hired a singer played by Amy Irving.  I've seen it several times.
