Re: IRe: Need Christmas Gift Ideas Please

My son was diagnosed w/Type 1 at age 13. I am VERY aware of fruit in moderation.

Re: Need Christmas Gift Ideas Please

@mspatmac   She truly appreciated the ability to have stories told to her.  We also got a few of the smart plugs for the lights and then I set up a few games she could play with Alexa, but it was the audio books, and lights on and off that were her thing in the end.  It was a family gift from her children and their spouses.  I was just the one who set it up.

I will never forget her eyes lighting up when I found out about the library thing and that she could hear books read to her.  When she would have to go to rehab for certian things, she would always say. "I miss Alexa".  Some rehabs allowed it, some did not, if they allowed it, I would go in and connect it to their internet.  Alexa was more like a friend who never complained how many times she asked what the weather was or what time it was.  Bless her heart, may she rest in peace.  We lost her in Feb. of this year.  (not to CoVid - it was a heart attack)

As per others who could use it, I pray that she started a trend in the assisted living place she was living.  I left them all the commands that if family members got a device for their loved one, the staff there could easily copy and use some of the commands.  It is just a matter of teaching them to look at the paper and say the command.  The best part is watching their faces light up, almost like they did a magic trick - esp when the lights come on and go off.

Blessings to you mspat!

Why not an Amazon gift card packed with an Echo Dot?  and an Audio subscription if your budget allows.

Re: Need Christmas Gift Ideas Please

Here are some ideas for you:

1) box of all occasion cards with a book of stamps

2) if you know where she gets her hair done, get a gift certificate for a day of beauty there

3) a new handbag and wallet

4) a new calendar. If this is close family member you can even make a calendar with family photos uploaded using several different websites

5) new cards, with some poker chips, and some bags of snacks you think she would like to share with friends

6) some beauty products with a nice makeup bag. Could be lipsticks, or some hand creams, whatever you think she would like

7) if she likes jewelry, maybe a nice necklace or brooch with a scarf

What? Lighten up. Puppies are adorable. Maybe not for an 80 year old. Do you have any lightness in your soul?

@marchingalong123  Why so nasty? She is entitled to her opinion without you attacking her. And she is right.

Nasty? Whose calling the kettle nasty? It's surprising what a cute puppy elicts from people.

@bonappetit  Yes, it's even nicer when they got more work than they bargained for and didn't really want. What happens then? Everything doesn't always turn out sunshine and lollipops. It's not right to go around giving animals away to people who may not want the responsibility.

Oh my goodness!  I had to laugh at the puppy image since it was so darn cute....however I think the suggestion was made in jest.  I find it hard to believe that anyone took it seriously!

Maybe take some of your pride and exchange it for a sense of humor, fun, jest.
