Re: NOT TAKING NEW BRIDAL/PROM APPOINTMENTS

@shaggygirl   I forgot to add, there's always at least 2 consultation/practice appts. before the big day. If the bride is insisting on unnatural, over the top looks, I try to reign her in explaining that it's better to recognize herself in the album 10 yrs. from now. Thank God, a more natural look is "in" for the last few years and I have to convince her that she needs more definition on features, not brighter or weird colors.

@shaggygirl  ..... I had my hair and make-up done for my wedding. I look a lot like my paternal grandmother and wanted to look similar to her when she got married. At the time I had long hair down to my waist. I wanted my make-up to look "natural" and I wanted my hair styled in the twirls (I don't know what to call the style") hers had been. No way I could have done that myself. I was happy with the results then and am still.

What about the hair dresser.... Don't see anyone washing hands between customers...Breathing on you when washing your hair....Same principle....

Shanus,

IMHO, a very prudent decision on your part.

Better to err on the side of caution.  Better safe than sorry, etc.  They all work well here.

It's always boggled my mind how brides want to look like somebody different than who they are on their wedding day. Yeh I know, just enhancing their own natural looks, wanting to look good for photographs and blah blah blah. But if they can do their own makeup on any other day of the week or for any other special occasion, birthday party, somebody's else's wedding......whatever, they should be able to enhance their own good looks and still look like themselves on their wedding day too without having a pro do all that layering and contouring and "stuff" which I don't care what anybody says they don't look like the person you know. IMO of course. Or maybe I'm just cranky today.

I agree, @shaggygirl .  I would never have wanted or would want anyone else doing my makeup or hair.  I wore my hair down to every prom I went to and to my wedding.  Those upsweeps IMHO are so UGLY.  They don't look natural - curls, bobbie pins galore, and hairsprayed stiff as a board.  That was a long time ago for me, but I still feel the same.

You aren't being cranky.....just honest.  Me, too. Woman Wink.  It is a forum of opinions.  I happen to agree with you.

Fear not Brothers and Sisters! I have read THE BOOK..........we win!!!
