Re: NO COCKTAILS = POOR SERVICE

Actually we have a number of BYOB restaurants around here. They come in handy when you have family or friends  with you who like wine with dinner. Much cheaper.

I don't drink alcohol and DH rarely does.  It could be that we just don't notice slow service because we like to be left alone to talk.

Do the math.

I've noticed we seem to get faster service if we don't order drinks. I feel like they want to get us out quicker so they can use the table for someone who does order drinks.

Rarely do they automatically bring over water, so when a dinner companion asks for it, they readily bring it. They might label us cheapskates, but it's not uncommon to stick with water at a meal. I always have soda, coffee or a mixed drink depending on the time of day.

No, have not noticed that at all.

Large groups usually have a few servers working and they are run ragged.   I've never noticed bad service whether I ordered alcohol or not.   Maybe your server was having an off night.

I've never noticed it either, and I go out to dinner a lot.  I usually have a glass of wine or sometimes a drink, but I've never experienced inferior service when I don't order alcohol.

No eye-rolling either!
