2 words: US attorney

Thank you, @lulu2, sunshine, tribefan, alterego  for the helpful advice!! Woman Very Happy

Shame on the poster that provided the snark Woman Tongue.

Local US congressional office. Consolate or government agency? Geoffrey Fieger Woman Frustrated.

Local news "helper" person.

Just throwing these out trying to be of help. I have heard of congressmen (Rep, not Sen) helping out, btw.

Good luck. @patbz.

I'm guessing you knew for while you were going. Long enough to go the usual  way through the post office.

How is that supposed to be helpful?

You also have no idea when they found out they were taking this trip - or any of the surrounding circumstances.  The OP is clearly upset and looking for help.  It serves no purpose to be snarky and judgmental.

My passports are still lost!!! FedEx sent a courier to Riverside address to which they delivered package (on Jan 3) and no package no one home.  They are trying to reach him via phone (no luck).  Called Rush My Visa and they are playing "not my fault" (no liability??).  I am on hold to talk to manager; will tell him I need to know by Monday where it is and when I'll get it or I contact Phoenix tv consumer advocate.  Please don't suggest I contact my Congressman as this is a non government issue.

I wish I had some helpful advice.  It's terrible that you're going through this. Just wanted to let you know that I understand what it's like to have something like this go wrong when we do everything right!

Please keep us updated.  I'm sending positive vibes to you, and I have a feeling it will all work out just fine.

I spoke with Rush My Visa and told him Ill give them until COB Monday to get me info on where it is and definitively when I'll get it.  At that point, if there is no good news I think they will pay all costs to replace 2 passports and 2 visas(could be $800 plus) and expedite all services. They say they can do this in two weeks.

I have never heard of anyone going through the Post Office to get a Visa to a foreign country. As far as I know you can apply through the P.O. JUST FOR THE PASSPORT if you so choose. Is this something new? I know you have to apply to the EMBASSY of whatever country you are travelling to, to get the VISA. So why are posters saying that the OP should have tried the Post Office? Am I wrong about this?

@Sage04 You are correct. I either have applied for PPs in person or at PO.  You don't use PO (as far I know) to get visas.  If these documents need to be replaced I will use Rush My Visa as it's in their interest to do it right and quickly and it's their dime. If I were to miss my trip due to no docs I'd sue them for my costs ($6000 plus for docs and trip).

in my post i was only referring to the passport renewals and their expedited services via the post office, not the visa situation.

i live near DC so when we need a visa it is easy to obtain by going to the embassys of the appropriate country.

@Sunshine  I am from Silver Spring and got my first 3 passports easily.  You have no idea how much more difficult it is when you are 12 hrs each way from the agencies and consulates.  This why there is a business for expeditors.

  • Thirty minutes before our deadline to start the process to reissue my passports and visas, FedEx delivered them. Where they went during the last week is a complicated web. I will never use FedEx unless recipient signature is required. I didn't have that as an option but suggested to expedition that they make that option available in the future
