Sunday I decided to get a few groceries and wound up meeting several new people, who were delightful. I started to feel funny and asked for a place to sit and the next thing I knew I was chatting with the store manager and some EMT's. The story got more dramatic with each telling and the last version pretty much had my eyes rolling back in my head and going in and out of consciousness while making some bizarre statements. I don't really believe it all, but it made for a dramatic recitation. The EMTs didn't think it was a good idea for me to drive for the rest of the day, so they called me a cab ...and he was very nice, too. Actually carried my groceries into the house. On Tuesday I got a lift from Office for Aging to pick up my car.
If the medical community was half as good as the EMTs I might consider getting a PCP. ![]()
Rather than being upset, I find the whole experience to be very uplifting. Much better than my stay in the nursing home a couple of years ago.
I think I picked the right place to retire to.

@excpa, so glad that you are ok and that you had so many people looking after you. I have no idea where you are, but it sounds like lots of amazing and kind people live there.

@excpa. Have you given any thought to seeing a doctor? What would happen if you passed out while driving? I know you'd feel terrible if you injured an innocent person.

Glad that you’re okay. What a wonderful attitude you have! Hope you’ll be right as rain real soon.

EXCUSE ME - you lost consciousness but did not go to the hospital to be checked over and find out why you passed out? A little common sense please. Did the paramedics not want to take you to the ER? Did you refuse? Seriously?!?!

Its great that you are OK and had people looking out for you.
Although you appear to be joking about getting a PCP, it is actually a very important thing. I argue with my MIL who is retired and 78 all the time. She refuses to go to a doctor and tells us she is too busy for even a yearly physical. Yet she will spend entire days in her pajamas going no where. A yearly physical at least is important for all of us.

I don't know why I post here at all. So many judgemental people, all of whom are medical experts.
Sorry. I can't imagine your lives, although you seem to have no trouble imagining mine.
Bye.
(Thanks to those of you who didn't demand that I get a doctor's permission to wake up in the morning!)
