@wilma That's so pretty.  How nice you have these pieces to cherish.  My mom never had much for jewelry but when she passed away I got her one string of pearls that I adore.  I never wear them as I am afraid something will happen to them, they are quite old.

Re: My Mom’s Jewelry

[ Edited ]

I kept my beloved Moms birthstone peirced earrings and I wear sometimes. They are sapphire, and so pretty. Love the Blue.  Kept a couple of her rings but they dont fit me.

I still have her nightgown she wore the day before she died in a plastic ziploc. I can still smell her bath product she used on it, it smells like her!  I donated much of her jewelry since I am not a big jewerly wearer.

A few years ago my mom gave me her jewelry since she had been in the hospital and was afraid of her jewelry walking off (she had an aide at the time that had a tendency to take some things).

She's still alive and has a few nice pieces but I feel funny about wearing them now and she doesn't want them back.

Someday when she is gone I will get a new setting for her engagement ring.  She had at one time a gorgeous platinum setting for it but had it reset into a hideous (my opinion of course) very 80s look back then.  While I like contemporary jewelry, I prefer a more classic or vintage look for an engagement ring.

Such choice pieces, @wilma .  Beautiful mementos of your mother!

@jlkz,  it's so special to have a lovely ring like that representing both your parents.

Thank you for sharing those lovely items of your mother's!  They are gorgeous.  While I am very partial to heart jewelry, I am drawn to the pin which has the flowers --- are they violets?  They appear to be.  My mother loved them and as a child we were always picking her large bouqets from the yard!

@AngelPuppy1

They look a bit like violets. Not certain though.

@wilma  When my Mom was ill we had to have her wedding ring cut off, so when she passed away I had the ring shaped into a heart and the jeweler put the diamond in the middle and made it into a beautiful necklace that never leaves my neck, so very special to me.

I was 24 years old when my Mom died. I remember my Dad suggesting I go through her jewelry an can remember as if it was yesterday going through that drawer. What I can't remember is what was there. I took some things but had him give the rest away. I feel sad about this because I was too young to know what was valuable. I wish I had just taken it all and put it away for another time. Oh well. The things I did take I love.

I sold a lot of her stuff for her back when I was in a major antique mall.  Now I'm sorry I didn't keep a few pieces for myself.  I do have her engagement ring but we pulled the diamond for my sister and I wear the band with a CZ replacement.  Since it is small I rarely wear it.
