Long....apologies in advance.

I was outside watering some flowers this afternoon. When coming back in house I hear my husband concluding a phone call with, "Well let me ask ...... and I will let you know if we're coming."

So he says to me. "That was Jane (one of his sisters),  she invited us over on Labor Day." "What do you want to make?" "How about making a cake?"   Not do you want to go?

I just looked at him.  It is going to be 90 degrees and muggy.  I just want to stay home in my AC and vegetate.  I don't want to go to the store Sunday with all the other folks shopping and I certainly don't want to make a cake.

There is no talking to him about the fact I really would just rather stay home.  We've been down this road before and he gets an ugly, argumentative attitude.  I know, that's just sad.

So...as there is not a lot of years ahead of us, I have just decided to suck it up, put together a vegetable tray and yummy dip and go.

Thanks for the ear and allowing me a venue to get this off my chest.

@Allegheny  Look on the bright side - he didn't accept for you. That's a definite plus.

Anyway I hope you feel better!!!

Good idea to suck it up. Sometimes these events turn out to be fun even when you don't want to go. I can relate to you wanting to stay home.

Her husband didn't do that, though.

He told his sister he would check with the OP first.

OP, go and enjoy yourself. In a few months we will all be complaining about the lousy weather of Winter. Life is short, be happy.

Reminds me of something a good friend of mine claims about men. Put them all in a bag, shake them up, pour them out..... they all come out the same.

Why do you have to make a cake??  I'd tell my DH that I'd love to go, looking forward to it especially if I didn't have to make a cake in this heat and buy a beautiful and tasty cake from the bakery!!  Big Toothy Grin...Woman LOLWoman LOL

I totally get it. Married 39 years, we're doing better understanding we're different temperament types. He gets energized being around people and can be a people pleaser. I can do the social thing for a while, but too much and I deflate. If you go -- buy a cake or bring bakery cookies.
