Those diner breakfasts are a great thing.  Years ago our family was in Harrisburg, PA for a 50th anniversary party.  One morning I went out for a walk and as I glanced into a local diner, I saw my Texas uncle.  He was an expert on geriatrics (served on JFK's Council on the Aging) who explained to me later when I questioned him that he whenever he traveled he tried to sit in on groups like that one.  For him, they were learning experiences as well as social ones.

@dexI'd expect DH to enjoy those breakfasts -  especially if with any grumpiness there's some laughter.

It's good for them.   Retired men need to stay connected.   Better be sure your DH doesn't miss a morning, they will all check on him!    Which is a good thing.

Easy to know exactly where they are, too.......(lol)

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

The retired guys in our town meet at a restaurant for lunch at the reserved "Table of Knowledge."

@dex

Sounds like quite an honor to me to be invited into such an exclusive group. Probably be a lot of fun for your husband, and somewhere that I would fit right in with the members. Would start my own, but I've spearheaded enough groups over the years, so I will wait till some invites me into that kind of group.

Be well,

Several of our local restaurants (not chains) have a "community table" where singles can eat with someone.   In a retirement area you have lots of single people and nobody really likes to eat alone.

I have never heard of these groups. What a great idea! The ROMEOS" accronym made me laugh Smiley Happy
