Just something to keep in mind for those who prefer poisons.  I don't want mice invading my home, car or garage either, but I at least prefer a safer and more humane way to eliminate them, without endangering other life forms.

The truth about these poisons isn't palatable or popular, I know.  (Turning a blind eye to it is always easier.)

--------------------------

"“d-CON Kills Mice and Rats,” the label screams. True enough. If it were totally honest, however, it would say, “d-CON Kills Mice, Rats, Owls, Bobcats, Foxes, Coyotes, Hawks, Cats, Dogs, and many other creatures.”  (It is also mentioned that children have been poisoned by these things, too, as children will often pop anything into their mouths.)

The chemicals in question are anticoagulants. The target species—rats and mice—die from internal bleeding. When their carcasses are found and eaten by predators and scavengers, the poison is ingested as well, often causing injury or death.

This is why the Environmental Protection Agency is trying to yank the registration of a dozen d-CON rodenticide products in order to eliminate the collateral damage inflicted on wildlife, domestic pets and children."

Please don’t use poison!!!!!!!!!

The rat eats it and the rat/ mouse is then eaten by a cat, fox or other animal. They die a slow horrible death from internal bleeding. It’s sadly common.

Fortunately, some areas have banned it. Hopefully, it will be banned nationwide.

You need a pest company to come and inspect for teeny tiny places they get in and to get rid of them.

@bikerbabe - I nearly added a comment about hoping this poison would be banned nationwide, but sadly I doubt that will happen anytime in the near future.  It's such an inhumane way to "solve" a problem.

Kudos to the places that have already banned its use.

my mom and stepfather lived in the country. The house was in a grove of tall old oak trees, front and back. Beautiful setting. With lots of squirrels.

OAKS=ACORNS

well my folks didnt like squirrels. 😕

They said "there are too dam many." Lol. I think they wanted like three or four token squirrels that would pose and be cute outside their windows.

So they set out baited live traps.

When they had caught a few squirrels, they drove them a couple miles away and released them.

I told them, in the time it takes you to do this, about fifty new ones are being born.

They were stubborn old people. Continued this goofiness the rest of their lives.

At least it kept them out of the pool halls and gave them purpose (g)  I guess we've never had enough squirrels to be a nuisance.

@Carmie ...Ugh, I would not want to go home..  Hopefully a professional can come out and get of the critters for you.

My friend has had two possum in her house...I am not kidding..one was aa larger one and was in her stove drawer, this was probably 8 years ago.  Just about two weeks ago when she got up in the morning there was a baby possum in her living room.   I just can not imagine that!

OMGosh!  Can you even imagine bending over to open the stove drawer to come face to face with an angry and scared opossum? Smiley Surprised  Just look at the claws on these things.
