@Q-Checker The Wellness visit does not incude any lab workups.  That has to be charged under another category.

@UpNorthGorgy.  Be careful with that Hydrochlorothiazide.  I had a terrible time trying to eat enough potassium to compensate for what it depleted.  At times it was "critically" low.  I finally got a different medication that is just as effective with no potassium problems.

Kchina624, what did they give you instead? I'm on Indapamide 1.25 mg. Nobody even mentioned a potassium depletion to me!

I have to fill out a questionnaire once a year for Medicare but never had an exam. No one ever mentioned an exam. I did not know there was such a thing.

The Doctor's office makes sure that you fill out the questionnaire but that was it. Then they refill my prescriptions and do blood tests (sometimes urine test) and I am on my way.

Is the Wellness Exam new?

Hi drizzella, the Medicare wellness exam started in 2011.

Hi ladies! What do you think about the Medicare Wellness Exam, would love to

hear your opinions.

My doctor doesn't do it, the girl who takes my weight, blood pressure, etc.

does it.

It consisted of memorizing three words to repeat back to her later, and drawing

a clock with the hands on 11:50. 🤷‍♀️

I tell the nurse I won't get on the scale..she says OK.

Jo1313 - LOL.

My doctor lied and told me it was "required".  I have not made an appointment and will not make one.

@Icegoddess Of course they are separate services with separate charges. Sorry if my reply suggested that they were not. My current PCP does not include them in my appts with him.

@Kachina624  I recall your concern about a banana shortage  with imports as US not a grower.? I will ask potassium to be checked out. Thankyou for the advice.

For awhile I couldn't look at a banana as working in Headstart they had them every  single day. The kids liked them and easy to serve. I try to find smaller ones so don't have to cut inhale. half.

@UpNorthGorgy. It's funny, I'm not crazy about bananas but got so used to eating one daily, I'm miss them if I run out.   I've been getting them at Walmart at the same price as always, although they're small.

Yes, I feel like it is a waste of time; however, doctors receive so little from Medicare for services I do not mind taking it.  Although for 10 years they never chanced the 3 words to remember.  They are forever in my mind.  This year they changed one wordl. If you are having problems with your memory it will indicate so.

@Kachina624

Me too.  When I was younger, my potassium level was so low from taking hydro that I couldn't walk.
