I hate wearing a mask. It's 110 outside and will be hot until October. I have a hard time breathing and all I do is sweat.  I have seen several people wearing a face shield instead. It's basically a hat (usually baseball hat) with a removable plastic shield that goes below your chin. Anybody try one?

I got 3 of them cheap from Amazon about $11 for all three.

They are less restrictive but still not what I would call

"cool."

I have worn it with a mask which is really fun! (not!) but it was only for a short time.

I clean them with the last spray of lysol or clorox wipes I have and then clean with vinegar to wipe off the spots.

I do think they are worth it when you are going into a place that you are afraid might expose you.

@Meowingkitty   Face shields are meant to be worn over masks, not instead of masks.

Every person I've seen while out and about just had the shield on without a mask.

Face shields have been shown to reduce viral exposure by 96% when worn within 18 inches of a cough, and by 92% at the currently recommended 6 feet of social distancing, according to a recent editorial in the Journal of the American Medical Association.

No one I've heard from CDC has mentioned face shield as only protection. Masks are said to be necessary protection along w/ hand washing, distancing, ya da ya da.

@willdob3  You are absoultly correct.

I keep my face shield in the car (along w/gloves masks & eyegoggles).  I only wear my face shield & mask if I am going inside a grocery store & BJ's.

In the near future, I will be wearing both w/gloves on "boardwalks."

In my neck of the woods, Shoprite was selling them for $5 but FREE to seniors.

I could be wrong but this sounds like it’s talking about protecting the wearer. Masks of course are intended to protect others from you in case you have Covid19.

No pictures because I'm not going to take a picture of a stranger but yesterday in Costco a lady had one on and I've seen several people wearing them when Costco had lines waiting to get in which they don't now. I've seen them in the grocery store too.

I saw a couple in Sprouts the other day wearing face shields and no masks.
