I went to my great niece's birthday party on Sunday.  The birthday girl and one of the other kids wanted me to ride down one of the big slides with them a couple of times.  Other than that, I was more of an observer this time around.  It's neat to see the kids grow up and away from you, if that makes any sense.  I am fascinated watching these little people grow into confident and outgoing children.  It's how it's supposed to be and it makes me happy.

On the down side, my 4 1/2 year great niece was interested in climbing the obstacle course that led to the top of the slide but not going down the slide itself.  She was afraid.  I don't susbcribe to forcing a child to do something that frightens them.  Apparently my great niece's father thinks otherwise and when I wasn't watching, drug his kid up the obstacle course and dropped her down the slide.  I heard about it after it happened.

You know, I don't understand that kind of behavior.  It was a party that involved an hour of playing hard, followed by lunch, cake and the birthday girl opening her presents.  Why ruin your daughter's good time at a birthday party to prove a point.

I guess that's one of those 'life' things that I will never understand.

Brrrr and a good morning to one and all. Bernie I step back from "playing" with the kids as I simply cannot do it any more. LOL. I think I got old - like really old!!!

By the way we are up to 30 degrees here right now - few minutes back it was 29 - that is progress? That warmer weather we had been having sure spoiled me. We have gotten quite a bit of rain the past two days and it has been great - also brought the colder air. It seems to take longer and longer to heat up this old house. Wall heaters have never been a great thing in my opinion but it will work - eventually. This heater is only about 3 years old - I swear the old heaters did a better job.

Will leave some frozen waffles to pop in our  traveling toaster. Of course there is syrup and butter as go withs.

Hope one and all have a great day.

Afternoon, warm here today, at least for a March day, don't really think Winter is done with us yet

@Bird mama OMG I remember my first one, my aunt took me to downtown Chicago, lower Wacker Dr, an old man with a cart sold them, I fell in love, make them quite often, but his were the best, or is it just the wonderful memories?

Needless to say I've been to the back fence stuffing my self

@spix

My fond memory of waffle based ice cream sandwiches is Woolworth's.  Ahhhh those were the days.

Ahh, I sure do miss those great Dime Stores - you could find anything you needed in those stores. Have really missed them.

By the way I HAVE used those frozen waffles with ice cream before - kids love it. I think the waffles are pretty close to ice cream cone material anyway.

COLD here again, am headed for bed in about an hour or so - I know, it's early but that is the way I like it. I was up and moving at 4 a.m. - never have been a night person.

Have a great day tomorrow everyone!!

Oh for those wonderful five and dimes.  I too had waffle sandwiches there and who could resist the donut machine in the front of the store

Meuw, what changed your mind about having surgery.  My joints have all been swollen lately.   Especially my ring finger and my big toe.

Rain, rain and more rain this week.  Gloomy outside.  I need one of those lights.

It's overcast here too.  I think we could hit a record, temperature wise today.

what a heavenly day. This afternoon, out on the deck, the temp was 80 dregs, with a nice warm breeze. I could stand there a see the blooms on my dafidolls. Tomorrow is to be just as nice with temps in the 70s at night.

Guess I'll go read for a while before bed.am reading  a book about Thomas Jeffersons oldest daughter.am not very impressed with the book, but will stick with it for I'm sure to at least learn something....

Hi Epi, you are certainly warmer than we are. Hope all is well with you and yours. I don't read books too much any more but do go through two newspapers each day and I truly read them. Working almost 40 years for a daily newspaper stays with me - I love newspapers and not a fan of news on TV. No thanks.

I can hardly keep my eyes open but still have a couple small chores. Guess I had best get with the program - morning comes early and I usually start my days about 4 in the morning. Been doing that forever so even when I retired, could not break it. Well occasionally I sleep in until about 5. LOL.

Hope all had a great day.
