@Harpa   I make jewelry and also thought my little fingers were agile. No way can I speed along with thumbs texting on my cell.

Unless I'm at my desk, how do you use the mouse? If I'm on the sofa w/ the lap top...no place for mouse.

@Shanus  That's just it! You have to use the mouse on a flat surface. I just use my laptop when traveling, and I do have to rest it on a table or a desk. (If I want to use the mouse.)

@phoenixbrd  I'm a good typist, too, but danged if I want to thumb all over that teensy phone keyboard!

 @Harpa   I purchased a lap desk to use on the sofa...with a "puffy" cushioned bottom to be comfortable on my lap. That's the only way to use the mouse when not at my desk or kitchen island. It's annoying to go get it and stand it up next to the sofa and it's never where I need it...hence the touch pad.

❤️ my mouse, don't like the touchpad. They gave us laptops to use at work years ago and I tried using the touchpad: Always felt like a Tyrannosaurus with my little arm/wrist stuck out in front of me. Actually had my own Macbook for a while which I sold to a friend and replaced with 2 ipads❤️❤️, one larger and a mini. I have a Mac desktop (3rd one, my all time fave for doing "work," and def. for writing and keeping a historical record of my life, graphic stuff, photos, etc.  Corded mouse, all the way. The cordless mice chewed up batteries or always have to be re-charged. Maybe I am kind of dinosaur! Just not a Tyrannosaurus.Hail the Lizard King. T. Can't thumb text either. Usually use Siri on my phone and often on my ipads for texting.

@Harpa I once worked for a physician who was a piano player and insisted on typing his own medical notes as he could type so quickly.

@Shanus    Forget the laptop.  You need a tablet. So much more convenient when you need portable or to sit in an easy chair and use.  I got rid of my laptop.

@Harpa   I'm the same with texting on the phone and marvel at others with their agility.  I'm a fast typist but really sloooow when it comes to texting.

Being a musician, my fingers are pretty agile. I much prefer a mouse! I find it faster than using the touch screen on my lap.

DH, on the other hand, prefers that touchpad.

What I don't do so well is phone text with my thumbs. Not that my fingers are fat, but I always think I'll be hitting wrong keys.

I watched the other day as my future grand- SIL was texting with his huge thumbs and asked how he didn't strike wrong letters. He said he didn't know, that he does hit the wrong ones at times.

My laptop also has a wireless mouse, so when I do use that, the mouse is always there!

On my iphone I let Siri do all the work.  I just say "Hey Siri, text ..... so and so."  She does all the work and sends it for me.

At least one poster, and possibly two, have put up photos of their pet mouse(s), er mice.  I skimmed over them since I am not a fan.  The only time I use the laptop away from the desk is for a local online auction that takes about 2-3 hours a week.  Since I rarely raise my pre-entered bids I can rely on touch pad and not miss myj TV shows.  Any amount of typing at all sends me back to the desk with my beloved mouse.

@Hoovermom  and @depglass  oh my goodness. I just posted about this Thread on a Thread that Sooner just started. I mentioned I didn't open it because it is about a mouse. @Trinity11  just told me it's about a computer mouse. That was so funny. Can't stop laughing.

Just read the entire Thread.

@laluzdelmundo

I'm with you on loving the Mac desktops!  I think they are the best!  Eons ago my boss handed me over his laptop to do some of his work for him and I had never used one.  I was a mess trying to use the touchpad - was all over the place!  I like my mouse and prefer it!  The cordless mouse does have to be charged a lot.  I definitely am not good with computers and electronic devices and new things are a real struggle for me.  As for texting on my Iphone -- I have very small fingers but I hit wrong keys and can't go fast at all.  I watch people texting with their thumbs so quickly and I am amazed!  I do occasionally use voice to text but am not comfortable with that either.  I often refer to myself as a dinosaur also!
